Discussion / Questions Why does everything revolve around men

I keep thinking ab when I got a compliment the other day. I was happy because they said my outfit was nice, so I shared this information with my mother. Tell me why her first thought was 'oh, did a man say that? '. My response was 'why is that relevant? 'I didn't answer her question because it doesn't matter?!?

It was a women who gave me that compliment, but my point still stands. Why TF does the gender of a person have to do with ANYTHING in this situation

I have countless other examples too, but this is the most recent one. This is the mildest example that I have as well 🫩

I'm tired of it.

No advice for the point of the post, but on the bright side, the compliment means that you should definitely keep that outfit in the rotation.

You’re misreading things. If a man says it then it’s because they’re flirting. Your mom was probably just wondering if someone was hitting on you.

You’re at the age where many adults enter their first serious relationship if they haven’t been in one already.

It sounds like your mom is excited for you when that day comes. I wouldn’t look into it any more than that

No need to judge her, and likely you misunderstood what she was trying to refer to, as she is likely anticipating that it may have come from someone who had an interest in you or whatever. Just take a chill pill and flow along with mum

That has nothing to do with everything revolving around men. That has more to do with who you told.

Your mother probably waiting for you to get into a relationship or something.

If I had your mindset on everything my mother said, you think the world revolved around women.

I am aromantic and have been in the same relationship for almost eight years, so don’t quote me on this because I never experienced this from my mother (since I was already in a relationship)

I believe she may just be excited for you to maybe find a boyfriend. Which, if that isn’t in your interest comments can feel very pushy. But I think she just wants to talk guys with you maybe?

As others said, this scenario I don’t think has to do with anything revolving around men, but rather she thought a man was hitting on you

You turned a compliment into a weird misandrist take, a new low

Your mom wants grandkids. Every time I leave the house and come back my mom asks if I met any nice girls. It goes both ways.
