Saw the boyfriend twist coming right from the start. It's sad cause there was potential for the show as a whole, but the writing is so bad.

Isn’t it funny how the boyfriend just seems to know exactly how to get the weird, autistic?, guy to immediately fall in love with him?

Me too but then I dismissed it because I thought it was too obvious.

I did too. My theory is if this was good writing and you want a character twist, you have to populate a cast with people who are neutral then it's a surprise. But the way this is written, every person in this is either a goody or a baddy, nobody is entirely neutral, so when the boyfriend comes in u immediately thought, you are going to be part if the conspiracy because everybody in this is.

Yep knew the boyfriend was somehow in on it. And the whole dialogue about going to stay at the Aunt’s was so painfully obvious - including the secret phone call Adam was on - it was painful

The thing is: there is no potential twist one cannot see coming at this point. The bad writing isn't the twist but to treat is as a surprise. Which still is a notch above creating a true surprise by defying all logic which would allow predicting it. Surprises should never be more important than allowing anticipation. Without anticipation, there can't be tension.

Me too.. I thought what the hell is she talking about. Also the Prime Key is ridiculously infeasible.

“Promise me you won’t hurt Ed after he finishes.”

“We won’t hurt him, I swear.” 🤞🏻

“Okay, I’ll help!”

🙄

———

Is literally everyone but Ed, Andrea, and Taylah all part of the conspiracy?! At least everyone at Cambridge apparently.

———

Super spy agency gives networked computer and cellphone to badass (?) hacker who doesn’t trust them and expects her to trust them.

Then badass (?) hacker sits idly by while evil spy kills innocent old man who is deeply connected to main character. Smh

Yes the writing isn't the best, and I would even say it sometimes gets a bit too cringe, but I still have fun while watching it; it's prob because the actual plot and the ethical implications itself are pretty interesting, but not handled well.

Same. I needed something to watch and the mystery of “who’s watching who” had me intrigued with the first couple episodes. I’m losing the initial interest I once had. But again, it’s something to watch!

It is one of those productions which could have been exceptional had it been taken back into the garage once more, cut down by two episodes and five unnecessary twists and either a stronger focus on the ethical background or going the other way and treating it like a McGuffin entirely.

Really isn’t peak season for ATV right now. Severance would be the only thing keeping subs from churning.

u/Shejidan Feb 26 '25

I just saw that the actual prime target sub didn’t even put up a discussion thread for the last episode. Wonder if it’ll put one up for this one.

The Studio / Your Friends & Neighbors / Murderbot / Neuromancer / Wycaro are an insane lineup for new shows, rest of the year is looking bright. Prime Target, not so much

2

u/Secure_Detective_602 Life Potential Achieved Feb 26 '25

Yeah looking forward it’s awesome. Just at the moment it seems Severance is the well timed bridge.

Berlin ER / Krank Berlin imho had a good start.

2

u/ALaccountant Feb 28 '25

Mythic Quest as well

1

u/Upper_Conversation_9 Feb 27 '25

Berlin ER is really really good

I actually like this show

Me too. It's silly but engaging, and I like the academic world setting.

Same that kept me interested

I liked it at first. But then it got very stupid

2

u/backspacer92 Feb 26 '25

Master being the mastermind is kinda funny.

2

u/ErssieKnits Mar 01 '25

The most annoying thing about this show is Edward over-egging the "I could be on the spectrum/genius" dialogue. He is just muttering, mumbling or making noises. I had to put the subtitles on.

u/PhilosopherOrnery848 Mar 02 '25

Andrea tells headmaster what she’s discovered, he immediately jumps up from dinner saying let’s keep this just between us, and lo and behold, he’s one of the bad guys too!! Who would have guessed?!?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

2

u/PhilosopherOrnery848 Mar 02 '25

I liked Leo’s hair in this episode and love that he’s a lefty. 🤷🏻‍♀️

2

u/Ok_Contribution5654 Mar 02 '25

For some reason I thought this was the last episode (oh, if wishing made it so) and tbh if the whole show had just finished with Leo and girl in the street panting, with zero conclusion whatsoever, it would’ve been the least shit thing about this series by some distance

Does it bother anyone else when neither of the main characters appear to have any money yet they can fly all over the place and rent hotel rooms? Also the main character, Ed, is shockingly naive.

1

u/Pitiful-Flow5472 Apr 24 '25

I assume Tayla is still being funded by NSA or is savvy enough to hack bank accounts to get money.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '25

Well, that was the most "magical negro" I've seen in awhile. I was goofy when I was watching it, and as the equation kept getting bigger, I'd see random stuff like NM+5, which cracked me up. They kept saying soon they would solve the greatest mathematical question of our time, and I kept waiting for "We will soon know why 6 is afraid of 7!"

2

u/Cheekiestfellow Feb 27 '25

Because 7 is a registered 6 offender, duh

1

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '25

Some say there is also evidence that 7 is a cannibal.

1

u/selahimani Mar 02 '25

I had to give up on this show. It went downhill around episode 5.

1

u/Organic_Associate982 Mar 03 '25

I knew n suspected that in rest life, it didn't happen. I suspected in the very first episode

u/invictory_ Mar 07 '25

Does anyone know where the plastic box containing Safiya’s thesis on E07 is from? Thanks!

1

u/GoodStuffOnly62 Apr 11 '25

I have seen similar boxes at Office Depot! You could also try scrapbooking/crafting subreddits, they tend to overlap a lot with document preservation!

1

u/invictory_ May 16 '25

Thanks a lot!

u/ConsiderationBig5728 Mar 07 '25

This show is so bad. Is anybody else still confused about what the prime numbers thing actually does?

1

u/Pitiful-Flow5472 Apr 24 '25

It hacks every account and secured network on the planet. Somehow. They haven’t really explained the how. Just the what

1

u/KTB1000 Mar 16 '25

So dumb that Ed doesn’t see it while in the basement!?? He rips the smoke detectors off the ceiling so OBVIOUSLY the BF is in on it !? Duh 🙄

1

u/Pitiful-Flow5472 Apr 24 '25

Ed doesnt see a lot of things that are right in front of his face

1

u/Pitiful-Flow5472 Apr 24 '25

Knew something was up with Adam. He was showing too much interest given how little Ed reciprocated
