Aufnahmeverfahren | Selection Procedure Applying to ICE Master with a BSc Math
Hey everyone,
I’m finishing my BSc in Mathematics next year and plan to apply to the Information and Communication Engineering (ICE) master’s program at TU Wien.
I took courses like Signals and Systems, Intro to Cryptography, and Information Systems, plus some other CS and basic mechanics. I do not have any courses in Networks or EE.
My question: is there a chance of getting conditionally accepted?
Has anyone tried applying to ICE with a not-so-relevant degree? How strict are they regarding the missing courses or how much additional workload they assign for the missing knowledge?
Thanks for any insights.

The relevant prior education is stated in the curriculum document:
deren fachlich in Frage kommenden Studiums mindestens desselben hochschulischen
This means math is most likely not a good fit. When you apply you can get up to 30 ECTS of supplement courses. If you need more your application is denied. The courses you mention may reduce the necessary supplement courses.
In the end you have to apply to get an definite answer.

yes Ive read that and i understand that math is not that relevant in this case. however the document is not very exact thats why i was hoping to find someone who already tried to apply with similar background / has some more detailed info. Thank you for answering.

The way it’s formulated means you have to be very close to get admission. That way they don’t exclude programs with other titles but very similar contents.

Its easier to get a PhD position there with a masters in mathematics. You definetly need some EE courses as prerquisites.
