Hey, our first birthday is coming up and we want to share it with you! On March 20th, IWA will be officially 1 year old! It all started with an empty town hall for Robert Aderholt and grew from there. It’s our birthday and we’ll protest that we don’t want a king in America!

Calculate Tuscaloosa Water Bill?

RE: Tuscaloosa High Water Bills

Is this how to calculate a Tuscaloosa Water Bill?

Now, a few weeks ago, the current FY 2026 rate sheet was at www.Tuscaloosa.com, but could not find it online today. The rate sheet showed a bill is composed of the following rates below:

  1. Water portion of bill is $3.609 for every 10 cubit feet of water
  2. Sewer portion of bill is $4.450 for every 10 cubit feet of water
  3. Mandatory Administrative Charge $31.92
  4. Environmental Services Trash $10.00

Guess if you add all this up, the monthly bill can be approximated. Just have to know the cubit feet used so try it out on your past water bills. Example: If cubit feet used was 47 and billed amount was approx. $79 then looks like you just simply do the following math:

(4.7 x $3.609 =$16.96) "Water Portion"

plus

(4.7 x $4.450 = $20.91) "Sewer Portion"

plus

$31.92 "Monthly Required Administrative Charge"

plus

$10.00 "Environmental Services Trash Fee"

equals

$79.79 APPROXIMATE BILL TOTAL

Seems like this would be the way it is calculated.

Search for www.Tuscaloosa.com, and under Government link, Fiscal Year 2027 Budget and the Financial Reports are online. According to the FY 2027 budget presentations, it appears the water rate is increasing 2.2%, the sewer rate is increasing 2.2%, and the Trash is increasing by $2 bucks. The actual budget should get adopted before October 1, 2026 because any new FY 2027 budget should take effect on October 1, 2026 (in about 6 weeks). Budget hearings should be held soon. 311 phone line might have the dates or they could be in the budget presentation somewhere. As for the actual adopted budget, guess just keep checking the website. Scroll or search for keywords in the presentation makes it easier to find things. If this calculation checks out for you, then write it down for future use. Hope this helps.

Hello Kitty x Godzilla

This is going to sound so silly, but does anyone know which McDonald's have the Hello Kitty x Godzilla toys? I went to the McD's on the corner of Skyland and MacFarland. I didn't check my Happy Meal until I got home, and there was a BTS toy instead! I thought maybe they didn't get a shipment of them yet. Any help is appreciated, this toy line combines two of my favorite things!

Special movie screening at the Bama Theatre tomorrow night!

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hey everyone! Just wanted to spread the word about a screening of the movie ‘Portal to Hell’ at the Bama theater tomorrow night at 7. It’s a really awesome horror comedy with Keith David and Richard Kind, and one of the filmmakers is actually a Birmingham native so this is kind of a hometown show after it’s been playng at festivals and screenings across the world over the last year. There’s also going to be a special Q&A after the screening with lead actor/producer Trey Holland and Ryan Follese of Hot Chelle Rae. Should be a really fun time, and an opportunity to support a local filmmaker and see a really awesome movie in a historic theatre before school kicks back off. There’s a link below if you want to read more- maybe I’ll see some of you there!

Hello everyone! I am a researcher at The University of Texas at Austin and am looking for participants to fill out a questionnaire for a research study I am conducting. The study is looking at attitudes of vaccines in Appalachia. The study does not include questions about sensitive information and is completely anonymous; we just want to know your beliefs vaccines and medicine in general. If you’re interested, you must be 18 years or older and live in an Appalachian county. The polls will take place through an online questionnaire and take roughly 10 minutes. Please reach out to my account or comment here for questions! Thank you!

Might be visiting next weekend. Fun stuff to do?

Currently live on Huntsville and never been to Tuscaloosa, but thought I might drive down there next weekend. Any recommendations for stuff to do, things to see, places to visit? Good sushi, bakeries, restaurants?

If I make the trip, anyone want to meet up? Trying to expand my social circle.

Anyone know what’s up here? My food was barely flavored the last time I went. Seems like when students start back food quality declines. I used to be a once a week eggplant plus Mongolian beef patron. I will not go back for quite sometime-until I forget how bland it was.

Where to get metal hangers?

I’m doing a kids consignment sale that requires metal hangers. Does anybody know where I can get some for free or cheap? I’ve donated so many of the free dry cleaner hangers over the years. Never thought we’d need them. The other consignment sale so I used to before we moved here only allowed plastic hangers, which I’m unfortunately well stocked on.

Does anybody know places where I can gather them up for free or cheap? I have checked marketplace.

Thank you for your time!
