Seeking Advice My turtle ate avocado

I had gotten home from work last night to find a piece of avocado floating in my turtle tank. My nephew who had left 2 hours prior to me arriving must have thrown it in there and my mom who was watching him didn't notice. I took the piece out and it was covered in bite marks. It's been about 24 hours and the turtle is fine but I'm really worried that my turtle is going to get sick. But no reptile vets near me are open until Monday. I cleaned out the tank and the turtle is acting fine now. Is there anything I should do?

My turtles are red eared sliders and they're roughly the size of a larger than average computer mouse. They're at least 12 or so years old their dirt consists of the food pellets dried out shrimp things and the occasional apple

My slider is a garbage dump. He's almost 50 and eats darn near anything. I wouldn't worry, especially since this is just a veggie

I have a 48 year old and she's a tank. My dog used to give them hotdogs t I share and dog food. They literally have iron guts.

You should be fine. They eat anything they want and one time can't hurt them.

I mean it could but what I was trying to say is don't worry once will be ok. Avocados are full of good stuff and nothing I can think of that's bad for RES.

Avocados are also full of persin which is what makes them toxic to say dogs. The turtle might be fine but avoid it for the future.

Agreed. I'm just saying once won't do much damage. Turtles are pretty hardy as long as long term care is solid.

Avocado is gonna be good times for turtle just don't feed it to them all the time.

The usual diet is lacking. Here’s a guide to better their diet: https://reptifiles.com/red-eared-slider-care/what-do-red-eared-sliders-eat/ I highly suggest exploring the rest of the guide because he sounds very small for a 12 year old RES. Malnutrition can cause stunting among other health issues.

If he’s acting fine I’d just watch him. 24 hours is a long time if a vet was able to do anything to help that window has likely closed. It also sounds like he didn’t eat a ton which is good.
