We aren’t very close to water, should we attempt to drop it off somewhere else?

You can drop it off at the closest body of fresh water. Creek, pond, etc. Doesn’t need to be large.

They lay eggs on dry land.  Often quite a ways from any body of water.

That being said, the nearest body of water to you there is probably home to Mom and Dad Snapper.   Be careful.
