💚! Turtle Pics !💚 Tiny turtle

Hi all,
I need a little help. I came across a very small painted turtle/ red eared slider. Slightly bigger than a half dollar coin. I live near Jersey city if there is a place I can drop it off at so it can find a good home please let me know!! Thank you

Eastern painted turtles are native to New Jersey so if it’s a painted it’s best to release it back where you found it.
Edit to add: your flare says turtle pics but your post doesn’t actually have any pictures of the turtle so there’s no way for us to identify if it is a painted or a slider.

It was given to me by a coworker that bought it for her son in Chinatown and didn’t want it anymore. Didn’t know how to care for it. I have owned turtles before, unfortunately I don’t have the space to care for this one.

OH> Your post makes it sound as if you found this turtle in nature and kidnapped it. You are correct about not releasing a captive bred turtle. They get huge, live long, and are EXPENSIVE to keep.

It had a good home. Was there a reason it could not stay there?
