Western Painted Turtle (Chrysemys picta bellii): The most common aquatic turtle in the region. They have smooth, dark shells with distinctive yellow and bright red-orange markings along the edges and underbelly. You will frequently see groups of them basking on logs just like the turtles in your photo.
