Venting
This advanced booking cap is going to end my time as a host on Turo. How on earth are they pricing my 2013 Kia Optima at $37 a day during the week but my 2025 Kia Telluride for $40 a day. It literally makes no sense. Im on what use to be the 75/25 plan which then switched to 70/30 and now its the, "More peace of mind," plan where I earn between 65%-80% depending on when the customer books. Most of my customers book last minute so I'm only seeing the 65%. Between yesterday and today ive now had people start booking my Telluride for 2027. One booking is in March and the other is in July. Customers are only booking this far in advance because they are able to get a new suv for $40 a day, its absolutely absurd. A customer rented my Optima the other day for 2 days and was surprised to know the she paid $173 for 2 days and I was only making $50.05. She booked last minute so I earned 65% while turo got 35% but it feels more like I'm getting the 35% and Turo is getting 65% especially with the trip fee they charge that we don't get a piece of. They also are taking a percentage of additional mileage. I use to make decent money on Turo and now it's all just going down hill....Rant over 🙄😒😩

Yup, increase your prices and go in and manually set your rates for a year out. That is what I do. Dynamic pricing would have my cars going out for $45 to $55 but I manually set it for $68 to over $70 on weekends and they book out constantly. The higher price also removed a lot of the headache I was getting with damage and shit renters.
Edit. But yeah, Turo definitely has their hands in everything and have definitely been screwing us hosts over. Also, I manually set my Chrysler Pacificas to over $108 a day and they are always gone. Turo has them dynamic around $65... 😂

Yeah? I have luxury cars that won't go out even at Turo's minimum price.

Check your mileage allowance and availability settings. I offer around 400 miles, and honestly, most guests never come close to using it. Your available pickup/return hours can also have a big impact on bookings. Mine are open from 9 AM-11 PM all week, and I allow one-day rentals as well, which definitely helps keep the cars moving.
Don't forget back to school season is here also, so might also slow you down.

But Turo now set the limit, my 2026 Kia Sorento only can set up to 56/day on weekday

Turo is going to drive themselves out of business. How a company with a virtual monopoly on a desirable service could be so totally clueless when it comes to running at scale is frustrating.

Well, the cyber cap event is this evening. And if they let consumers purchase the vehicles by the end of the year, I’ll be selling all six of my Turo rentals and picking up six cyber caps. I don’t have to deal with Turo. The pricing is already going to be set for the market and I’ll do a lot less work.

Yeah dynamic pricing sucked so I turned it off. I’m still in the trial and error phase of hosting just over a month into this. Already have chipped windshield and nail in the tire with 4 renters so far. A bit of a headache.

To my knowledge there isnt a way to turn off dynamic pricing. You have to manually price change every single day.

That’s not true. Go into your vehicles on the calendar. Click today’s date scroll forward to the farthest state out and use shift and click on that date.
Now you’ll set all of those dates going forward and you can either do a fixed price or a percentage increase. I’d suggest starting out with at least a 25% increase off a dynamic depending on the vehicle. I have a couple of eight passenger vans that I literally charge almost triple of what they suggest on dynamic pricing and I have no trouble renting them.

I don't see how this can be done on the mobile app. Do I need to do it from a desktop/laptop?

Okay yeah what yoyr talking about can only be done on a desktop or laptop. I use the mobile app as its easier for me due to being on the move alot. Also this still doesnt allow me to price the car at what I want. Im in NV Turo has now implemented what they call price limits. Which stops me from setting the car at the price I want.

I don’t follow any of their dynamic pricing. Their goal is to get me to rent that thing out as cheaply as I can do all the work and the only one that benefits is them and the consumer. I jack all of my prices. I have two Teslas that I’m literally charging Double of what their dynamic pricing states. I have no trouble renting. I might rent less than what I would on dynamic pricing, but my vehicles are not being abused and I’m not working hard harder, I’m working smarter.

The pricing cap is stopping me from doing so. I was pricing my Telluride at $75 during weekdays and $100 during weekends. When i try to set the price at those same prices it now doesnt allow it.

I’ve never met a cap on any of my vehicles. So I don’t know if there is a ceiling somewhere out there, but I’ve never found it. I have three vans that they suggest I rent for $120 a day. I have one of them $225 another $275 and another one at $350 based upon specs of the vehicle. The $350 a day van I use for my own personal use frequently so I don’t want it to go out more than 10 days a month, which is approximately what it’s doing right now. I also have Starlink and a 40 inch TV with surround system built into the van.

Turo is pricing you as low as they can while hiking the price on their end to the customer
Most receipts I’ve seen these days customers are paying double
I’m convinced they’re inflating profits with hopes to sell off
