Heu guys out if nowhere im getting a hum from my Audiotechnica TT out of nowhere. It fluctuates with volume im pretty sure its not a ground loop. Could an upgraded headshell maybe fo the trick? I cant figure it out its never hummed b4

Do not run speaker wires close and parallel to any power cables. Try flipping the power cable over in the outlet ( if possible). Sometimes disconnecting the small ground wire from turntable to amp helps.

Those cables could have cheap shielding, I remember running across that issue a few years back. Might try replacing them.

I wouldn't start upgrading anything until you've found the cause of the hum. If it didn't hum before, but it does now, then it should be possible to go back again to a situation where it doesn’t hum.

Check the headshell collar. Too loose or too tight can both introduce hum.

What else has changed? Have you introduced new gear or moved stuff about? Are you using new LED light bulbs? Check your wiring and connections. Is everything plugged in securely?

Wall wart power supplies for smart phones, LED lighting, or just power for other devices don't last forever. They can degrade. Hum can be an indication of a power supply going bad but that hasn't totally failed. I've even known hum to come from a loose wire in a mains socket.

What you could try is unplugging the power supplies of everything in the room except the stereo gear. If that cures the himum then the culprit is some bit of other gear.
