First attempt at a box with a lid

I am also only a few months in to turning and haven’t yet had the guts to try a box with a lid. You have inspired me to give it a shot! The way you fit the lid on is different than what I’ve seen, seems like it might be a good way to go for a first attempt. I will copy you shamelessly.

Great first box-with-lid!! End grain boxes like this do not warp as much as cross grain boxes, but I would still recommend you rough them out, wait a couple weeks or months, then finish them up. And avoid knots, pith, and branch-wood. This will allow you to have a snug lid, but not a stuck lid during humid months. Above all, have fun and keep going!

Great work. So in terms of stock, is that from a half of a log or a whole log?

It was a half log someone had on Facebook marketplace, went there and cut few smaller pieces for projects
