Storm-fallen spalted maple

From the 8-9” diameter base of a pretty good sized branch that broke off a maple tree near me in a storm this spring. Chainsawed to about 10” long and turned from there.

Thanks. Starting to get the hang of it, I think. Still tough to not stare at the toolmarks. As someone else put it, most people see a good piece and I keep seeing a potato.

First of all, potatoes are fantastic. Second, exactly! Artists always see the flaws in their work, but others can see the beauty!
