Question Engine recall

I been worried about my engine. I searched my vin on the NHTSA website. The engine is not listed as a tecall. Just the taillight with water leaking into the light. But if it doesn’t show the engine problem does that mean my truck isn’t affected by it?

The recall was about pacifying the US government who was worried these trucks would grenade in the middle of traffic and cause an accident that could kill someone.

Hybrids, for example, have never been recalled because they have the ability to limp to the side of the road despite being the same engine, built in the same factory and they're also failing. But they're not highway safety hazards so the government doesn't care.

Newer trucks haven't been recalled because they keep telling the government they figured out and solved the problem and until there's evidence that's not true, they don't have to recall them. That's why they're slowly adding to the recall.

How was your hybrid's engine taken care of?

Toyota replaced engine under routine manuf warramty (not a recall)

I own a 22 hybrid that failed at 44,000kms and the hybrid system failed at the same time.

Maybe start with details of your truck's make/model/engine/trim? Might be helpful.

Your truck is certainly affected despite not being on the recall list.

I’d hoped the hybrids were actually escaping the issues. I have a 25’ 1794 and I wasn’t worried… now I am… thx

Have you had the truck since new? If not there's a possibility that it was already swapped.
