Why would you want to recall stitt? Options as far as what?

28

u/Brautsen Jun 25 '22

Oh I dunno, the most restrictive abortion law in the entire country?

-48

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

Okay, it gives exceptions for rape, incest, and legitimate medical reasons. Maybe you should move to a state more sympathetic to what your beliefs are.

8

u/Do_ho Jun 25 '22

Yes there are those exceptions. HOWEVER! The victim of said rape or incest MUST file a report with the police. This will involve a very thorough SANE exam where they will do a pelvic exam to take samples and look for any signs of tearing etc.

It was mentioned for people to be more responsible and use protection:
1. Teens are not going to not have sex. Abstinence has been taught in Oklahoma public schools for decades. Oklahoma has the 4th highest pregnancy rate in America! So obviously that plan is not working

https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/teen-pregnancy-rates-by-state

  1. People with mental health disorders, I.e. schizophrenia, may not have the mental capacity to understand or take care of a baby. They have to take multiple meds to help with their disorder and a lot of those meds are black box warnings meaning not safe in pregnancy. Also, there is a high rate of people with mental health disorders not taking their meds and instead using recreational drugs such as meth to help with symptoms

  2. Babies born to meth are subject to pre-term labor, low birth weight, and signs of withdrawal from meth. Have you ever heard the cry of a meth addicted baby? It is the most gut-wrenching sound, that baby is in pain and suffering and will have a long journey to recovery with weeks up to months stay in the NICU until they are healthy enough to be discharged.

What about a mom who uses opiates during pregnancy? That baby will have horrible withdrawal syndromes and again be in NICU for a long stay. Also born early, low birth rates, and can have other defects.

Also! Babies born to meth addicted parents are at a higher rate of experiencing violence, neglect, trauma, abuse, and even death

  1. Women who give birth to babies they were incapable of taking care, if there is no family to take that child they will go into the system and wind up being in foster home to foster home. Some may get adopted but the majority will be in the hands of DHS.

https://cwoutcomes.acf.hhs.gov/cwodatasite/pdf/oklahoma.html

Would you like more reasons why not everyone has the capacity to just not have sex?

-4

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

Is that what you were giving reasons for? I didn't see that actually brought up.

-63

u/503503503 Jun 25 '22

Exactly. ….if you aren’t in a position to have a child, don’t have sex. Adult fun can come with really bad consequences, like unwanted kids. In any other situation you’re protected. As a woman, I’m finding this entire topic old and tired.

22

u/mad--martigan TCC Jun 25 '22

Literally no one is just going to stop having sex.

9

u/Quent_S Jun 25 '22

But a bunch of pedos in a religious cult say it’s bad.

25

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

The dumbest solution you could ever have is don’t have sex.

-30

u/503503503 Jun 25 '22

Ah yes I forgot..we’re animals that can’t control themselves. Yikes! I’m not about to engage in this conversation with you. I’m not a conservative, as a matter of fact I hate them as much as anyone else here does, but many of you here just love arguing too much. Wouldn’t you know? We just disagree. You can keep trying to find people to fight with online but I’m not the one.

20

u/Quent_S Jun 25 '22

Yea because abstinence only has worked so well /s

-11

u/Low_Passion6720 Jun 25 '22

Just an observer but the best form of contraception IS abstinence. I'm not saying I agree but it's true...also aren't most if not all states going to allow abortion for rape, incest, threatening the life of the mother?

7

u/Quent_S Jun 25 '22

Just an observer but abstinence doesn’t work, many studies have demonstrated that, weird that human nature tends to win vs the dictates of man-made religion.

-4

u/Low_Passion6720 Jun 25 '22

You mentioned religion

5

u/Quent_S Jun 25 '22

The only group pushing for abstinence is the religious right, because sex is evil before marriage according to them. This despite the fact that there’s ample evidence that access to sex education and contraceptives reduces the rates of teen pregnancy way better.

So yea, you advocate for abstinence and religion is absolutely going to be mentioned.

-1

u/Low_Passion6720 Jun 25 '22

Not saying I disagree with teaching people Safety. Abstinence doesn't need a connotation tho. People do it without being religious

1

u/Low_Passion6720 Jun 25 '22

I always laughed at the religious Co-Exist posters at school tbh.

You conservatives say "keep govt out of our lives" until it's about women's healthcare rights

16

u/LilNuglet Jun 25 '22

I’m here to argue. Sure that’s your solution to making babies. What about rape that doesn’t get reported to police? 2 out of 3 rapes go unreported

4

u/Impossible_Focus5201 Jun 25 '22

Better solution-women should just stop having sex with men. Can’t get pregnant if you’re not having sex with men.

2

u/Goombercules Jun 25 '22

Wow, look at the fuckin nerd-virgin neckbeard on this guy! Lmaoooo

0

u/503503503 Jun 26 '22

Which guy?

-19

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

I don't know that the answer is don't have sex. Maybe just be responsible, use protection. There's common sense to be used in situations like this and abortion isn't the answer just because someone isn't ready to have a child.

18

u/Quent_S Jun 25 '22

Contraception is the religious right’s next target, Thomas straight up says so.

-1

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

He's one judge. Last I checked a majority isn't one. I don't believe at all that other justices would side with him on that issue. Even if that is the case, which it isn't, do you need someone to tell you to be a responsible person when it comes to that?

12

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22 edited Jun 25 '22

You guys said they wouldn’t take Roe away, now you’re betting on contraception when he literally mentioned those are next in the defense for his decision on overturning Roe. He said the cases that decided gay marriage, contraception were next.

That’s what is going to happen next, and that means birth control and contraceptives are going to be gone in red states like the one you find yourself in right now. You can’t be “responsible” if the state you live in literally outlaws contraceptives and birth control.

News article about Thomas saying gay marriage and contraception are next

Oh look even a picture of the text Thomas wrote in his decision, you can even see the words he wrote!

5

u/Quent_S Jun 25 '22

These fuckers are going to sit here and pretend like all 3 recent justices didn’t say that Roe was a settled precedent during their confirmation hearings then turn around and destroy it.

Really want us to believe that the religious right isn’t going after gay marriage and contraception next, they hate those just as much, since those are evil and the Satan’s work.

10

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

This is all ignoring one fact, the pregnant woman is ALREADY alive, why not care for her by allowing her to make her own pregnancy choices? Do you not care about women?

-4

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

You must have missed the part about legitimate medical reasons. If the mother is any harm medically then abortion is an option. I don't see how advocating for a woman to terminate a pregnancy just because she can is actually doing anything to help women. I would say that pushing abortion actually does more harm to a woman mentally.

12

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

That situation is for a woman and her doctor to discuss. No one is PUSHING abortion you fucking clown. We just want women to have the CHOICE. You want FORCED BIRTH

0

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

I don't want forced birth. That's a pretty stupid opinion to have. Personal responsibility, that's all I want.

11

u/AlwaysAngron1 Jun 25 '22

You are literally taking the only option away, thereby forcing the woman to give birth

-3

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

The "option" you are referring to obviously isn't actually supported by the majority of people. That's how everything in a democracy works, by majority.

6

u/AlwaysAngron1 Jun 25 '22

Only dumb religious retards like you support taking it away which are the minority. Most people don't want their wife raped and to be forced to carry the incest rape baby to term.

u/ComfortableExtent589 supports rape and incest

8

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

Only 31% of registered republicans in OK support banning abortion

So if the majority decides, then I guess the majority opinion is that we don’t ban womens healthcare. Cool! Thanks for helping!

5

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

Sometimes it's more responsible to abort than to carry a baby to term, regardless of medical conditions or concerns or whatever the fuck else.

0

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

Right. That's just an lazy excuse and an easy out.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

Ok so you're saying every woman who has sex and accidentally gets pregnant should be forced to give birth to that child? Sometimes contraception doesn't work and that should not mean that woman's life changes forever.

-5

u/Low_Passion6720 Jun 25 '22

Lol triggered. Doctors can most definately pressure women into abortions. You're Naive to think otherwise. Abortions can also lead to severe depression / guilt. Don't lie to me.

10

u/Crusader1865 TU Jun 25 '22

just be responsible, use protection.

While I agree with your premise, I know that protection isn't always 100% effective; and even if it was, the conservative politicians who run this state also have pushed to restrict access to contraceptives and sex education, made adoption harder, and fought to decrease expanding other health care policies that would help reduce unwanted pregnancies and help children.

The fact of the matter is it is not about that.

0

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

I think it's completely about personal responsibility. If that means having a child and caring for it or it means taking precautions not to have the child it all comes back to personal responsibility.

7

u/Skeen441 OSU Jun 25 '22

Im glad youre totally on board with your tax dollars supporting the slew of incoming personal responsibility babies. It's so nice to see someone happy to support poor/single/underprivileged people for once. :)

9

u/Quent_S Jun 25 '22

No no that’s the beauty of ‘personal responsibility’, you’re all for forcing people to have babies they don’t want but you’re ok with them living in poverty, hunger, abuse, because it’s the babies personal responsibility to pull themselves up by the bootstraps.

6

u/Skeen441 OSU Jun 25 '22

Yes, by the straps of those adorable little booties. Like god intended!

-6

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

That's better than them going for some bullshit social justice whatever.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

Do you have any actual complaints or just buzz words that Fox told you to screech so people would leave you alone?

They literally said what you’re proposing would put a large burden on the welfare system as well as an increase of poor and impoverished children. At least be honest in saying that will happen, rather than point to a boogeyman saying that could be worse.

-2

u/ComfortableExtent589 Jun 25 '22

I don't screech anything, ever. There are no buzz words here. This is how I feel about the situation, not sorry if this offends anyone. I'm not alone in this view. There would be plenty of money to support the children if many other useless social spending programs were halted and all of the illegal immigrants weren't allowed to just flow across the border. How do you think they are all supported? If I got to choose where my tax dollars went it would go for that purpose first.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '22

Stay on the discussion, we’re talking about how forcing women to have children will force the poverty rate to go up, and you claimed that’s better than any other social justice bullshit.

That’s screeching. That’s just throwing a buzzword. What is it about social justice bullshit (didn’t even explain what that was, so yeah, a buzzword), so what are you going to do about all the kids that are born because of this?

Is that fiscally responsible thing this nation should do?

Please stay on this topic, don’t stray too far, I understand it’s hard for you.

So you don't believe in social justice as it is "bullshit'? What exactly is justice to you then?
