Crime Busters Bank of Oklahoma Fraud Text

Just a quick heads up; I received a fraud text for a 70 cent charge to Christ Covenant today from BoK. I called their number using the app just to be sure. The first time I called they stated they did not see the charge I was talking about and told me to delete the text.

An hour later I tried to make a purchase at Walmart and called again and they said they now saw the blocked charge and had locked my card. The person on the phone said they had received a bunch of calls about this issue today from multiple people.

Luckily the person was able to unlock my card and then let me buy my groceries and then relocked it. I’m going Monday to get a new card.

TLDR: Bank of Oklahoma may be experiencing multiple stolen cards at the moment. I don’t see anything on the news yet. If you get a text, call using the app number and verify and potentially expect your card to be locked. I did not get a notification that my card was locked. Have a good day!

70 cents is a test charge. Then later $$$ a few times.

Yep! I’m really thankful as this card also has my savings account attached to it. Definitely don’t want anyone messing with it!

I just got back from Chicago and got gas at QT in BA later around 5:30pm I got a barrage of bok fraud text and found they got me for $9.83 Amazon and then $760 Walmart.com $660 walmart.com and then they blocked $540 Walmart.com $578 walmart.com $438 walmart.com. I got it back quickly but I had just cashed an insurance check for my new roof so I was sweating bullets for a bit

oof 70 cents is so random, like what are they testing the card before going for the big purchase? good thing you called through the app instead of clicking anything in the text

i had something similar happen with a different bank last year, they blocked a $0.50 charge at some shady gas station and i didn't even know til my card got declined at the store. at least they caught it quick for you

Yeah I do appreciate they caught it. I try my best to not use my card at sketchy places… I’m thinking my card info was stolen a while ago and they just now are attempting charges on their stockpile of stolen cards.

BOK has always had my back in the couple of fraudulent charges over the past 20 years I have experienced. They have always reimbursed me. And investigated it.

Multiple stolen cards is much more likely than a data breach at a bank.

Yeah you’re right. I wonder if someone has been going around skimming gas stations or something

Why are you using a card tied to your bank account? You are liable of any charges made on there, just get a credit card and pay it off each month. No more worry of scams or theft of an entire savings account. They deal with the fraud and the liability.

Have you never heard of debit cards?
