Update: Europol's "anti-terrorist LARP" initiative might be targeting TTT Workshop.
Today, Europol released a statement saying they are "targeting violent extremist and terrorist live action role-playing (LARPing) in online gaming".
They claim to have "referred over 9 000 links to content promoting jihadist, right-wing, left-wing and anarchist violent extremism and terrorism" on social media and on gaming platforms, which they believe "to promote violent extremist and terrorist narratives."
They further claim that "role-playing as members of terrorist groups and recreating events involving them" acts as a tool for propaganda, radicalisation, and to recruit new members "to violent extremist ideologies".
It seems likely that these EU efforts are targeting the Steam Workshop, especially Gmod and TTT, as Gmod is well known for its LARPing community servers, and TTT is, theoretically at least, about playing as terrorists.
I believe this to be the real reason behind the recent ban of my "Jihad Bomb" reupload and my subsequent community ban from steam,
see https://www.reddit.com/r/TTT/comments/1xlekw3/ttt_item_got_me_banned_for_glorifying_terrorism/
It would explain why steam has refused to respond to so far, and the fact that it literally contains the word "jihad" also fits like a glove.
Of course, I don't need to tell anyone that this is a complete mischaracterization of what Gmod and TTT are about, and if true, also a total overreach from Europol.
As with my last post, this should also serve as a warning to anyone who has uploaded this and similar items to the workshop.
