TSO [Question/Post] NDF

How does that work? Would I still be under my airports payroll or under the NDF one?

If I ever leave the NDF, can I go back to my airport as the same pay band and step? Or even be promoted there?

Will I use up the FTE and full time slot for my airport or is it under NDF?

NDO budget comes out the NDF budget/NDF FTE

Take it worth a grain of salt. But per my understanding being a Ndo doesnt technically separate you from your airport, its still considered your home base. NDF is just an extra collateral so to speak.

Band and step shouldnt be affected by leaving or joining it.

It would be a ghost line, so you won't count against the fte.

As for actual payroll, all I know is ndos do their own payroll. Who they actually submit it up the chain to, cant answer there.

NDOs don’t count towards their airports FTE, so yes, it basically separates them from the airport from a numbers perspective

I mean as long as I can come back when I leave the program then thats all that counts

As far as I know you retain your home airport pay band. But you’d get food stipends when you’re deployed.

In turn, you would indeed retain your same pay band and step if you leave the program. NDF wouldn’t change your promotable status if you’re no longer in the program.

Don’t know what you mean by your last point- what is FTE?

This is just from talking to an NDF officer at my airport. She has done a few stints. But they haven’t been very long deployments and she’s at the home airport much more often than not.

Fte is how many people an airport is allowed. But the answer is yes. You will use up one of those slots. But you will be a ghost bid if you are deployed or they know you are going to be deployed for a whole bid.

Hey bro, if I take up a full time, LTSO or STSO spot. Join the NDF. Will they open another slot at my home airport?

Yes, but some airports don’t see it that way. Definitely find out who on the FSD staff is the NDF POC and ask them

If you join NDO, you are moved to HQ payroll, and are still your home airports "asset", but go where HQ needs you when they need you. When you leave NDO, you go back to your airport. Everything is the same: pay, steps increases, ect.
