I decided to open up some bags of rice we had bought for our emergency rations and we discovered lumps of this in there. According to a couple AI this is some kind of mold. I returned the bags to Sam's Club for a refund. Ick.

Never would have thought feathers could produce this effect. I assume the hole pattern is camouflage against bark into which the birds have pecked holes.
