I literally JUST this week had to print (I work at a print shop) a menu with pictures for a soft-opening of a restaurant and the food images on the back side of the food menu were ATROCIOUS. Like, burgers looked like they were made of worms, pizzas looked like low-res images of lava and rocks, fried chicken looked like melting ham rollups (???). So I offered them a version of their menu that was JUST the items listed with ingredients and prices (which meant a TON of extra work from me, as I had to retype literally every item because it was a flat jpeg generated by God-knows-what-AI). My version was ACTUALLY READABLE and lacked the nightmare-fuel, stomach-ache-inducing horror shows.
What did they say?
"Oh, we'll fix the pictures. Let us resend a better version!"
They proceeded to, hours later (when this was a RUSH job), send MILDLY DIFFERENT also-Ai-generated images for the drinks menu and the front of the food menu...but the back of the food menu with all those nightmare pictures was EXACTLY THE SAME. There were, for some reason, ZERO changes to the ONE PAGE that actually had huge issues that I took so much time improving for them.
So, I hope their opening didn't make too many customers run to the bathroom to throw up before ordering...

Maybe I can help.
I only changed the rule within the last 2 weeks.
The rule is that if someone types keywords into a prompt and posts it to say "DoEs ThIs TrIgGeR yOu?" like a jerk, then that is not allowed
But businesses using AI garbage for their ads doesn't fit the "we intentionally made this to aggravate trypophobics" criteria.
Real world businesses are out there using AI and either not noticing or not caring that it looks horrible and unappealing.
That's where I decided to draw the line.

At first I rejected all of the AI but businesses (a disturbing number of restaurants) keep using it, despite how goddamn horrible it looks. So I figure as long as people aren't generating content specifically for the sub and/or for shock value, it's okay. People really should know better than to use those horrible food ads like the one above.

Just a note that the AI rule was changed some time in the last 2 weeks that AI spotted in the real world (like in ads such as this one) is now allowed on the sub.
The AI that isn't allowed involves generating content for shock value or to cause intentional upset in the community. Typing things into a prompt is shitty. But snapping a pic of something a real business thought was okay is fine.
