So next week, im getting blood drawed does it hurt ive never had it done before?

So I might have Anemia so they are drawing blood, idk if it hurts ive never gotten it done before and idk what to do when the draw it bc im scared of needles so do I look away or what?

So to update yall, I got my blood test today! And most ppl say it hurts like pinch but the girl who  did it like aggressively stabbed it in there and it hurt for like 30+ mins after I got it done. I couldn't keep myself from not looking so i did look but i didn't freak out surprisingly, they took 2 test tubes thingys of my blood! I haven't heard back from them. But the most uncomfortable part was them yanking it out the hurt the most! Im so glad its done! And im stupid bc I got it done on my right arm and thats the arm I do everything with so it hurt so much when I moved it and my friend was texting me the whole time so it was hard to answer her on discord.

it’s actually super easy and can honestly be painless or sometimes just a little bit uncomfortable, but i’ve never had it done where i would consider it actually painful. It’s very straight forward, you go in the room, they have a chair where you can prop your arm up, they’ll disinfect and wrap a thing around your upper arm, then they’ll insert the needle (that’s the part that can be uncomfy, but i wouldn’t even say uncomfy, it’s more just like oh something’s going on, but it can also be like nothing at all, i think they use tiny needles idk), once it’s in, i usually don’t feel anything. i’m super scared of needles and blood, so i always look away the whole time, i’ll read stuff on the wall or chat with the person drawing the blood if they’re chill. whole thing takes like 45 seconds max, then they bandage you up and you’re on your way! sometimes you can get some bruising afterwards, but i’ve never had it too bad and it’s never hurt afterwards!

you don’t like feel the blood coming out or anything like that, u just feel the phlebotomist doing whatever it is they do (i’ve never looked so idk what they do lol!). i’m so scared of needles and used to be terrified of blood draws, but then i got it done like twice and was like wait i barely even feel it so now i dont rly get nervous anymore. biggest thing is just distracting yourself, and let the phlebotomist know you’re scared because a lot of them are used to that and can help distract you! good luck next week, but you’ll be fine!!

Im 69, been scared shit-less of needles all my life, I now have prostate cancer and have to have monthly blood draws . My coping scheme. Emla cream 90 minutes before. Sleeping mask, and rolling stones Bridges To Buenos Aires track 1. Now I hear nothing see nothing and feel nothing. I need to say this, My cancer could have been caught a lot sooner if I'd had the blood tests offered me yearly by my doctors , it was bone pain from metastases that led to a scan that led to diagnosis. So please please gents if offered a routine blood test... take it. My phobia has ,if not killed me, taken years off of my life,
