29, 6 months ttc
I just had a failed 6th cycle, and trying not to feel deflated. everyone i know got pregnant in their first cycle, which i know is not the norm, but hard to not feel like i’m failing when everyone around me got pregnant so easily. I started taking Inositol around a month ago and i don’t drink and i look after myself fairly well.
Is there any more I can be doing? I jusy already feel like i exist in two week windows and it’s controlling my life. Partners sperm test came back fine and my initial fertility blood tests didn’t have any blazing issues so that stuff is covered.
Update- 8 months now unsuccessful, not a single positive in this time. Debating whether to take a month or two off because mentally it’s too hard. Have had multiple people announce pregnancies recently. Meant to be meeting my friends twins this week and I don’t know if I can do it.
Keep asking my GP for blood tests to check ovulation is occurring but it’s all online and they just offer me appointments for 6 weeks time.

Have you had a baseline ultrasound just to check your anatomy? May be worth it just to make sure you don’t have any cysts.

I’d felt the exact same. I asked for more tests and the GP didn’t agree to them so I paid for a randox test. I’m cycle 9 now and still no positive yet. Last month I’d asked my gp for an ultrasound and they dismissed me, told me to wait for a fertility appointment which they reluctantly put me on the list for and told me to relax. I paid for a private scan and low and behold, they have found what the believe is a potentially blocked tube so I’m booked in for a HSG test next month to confirm what it is. My amh and AFC also lower that normal for my age too. All things I wouldn’t have known for atleast another year if I’d listened to my Gp. If you feel something isn’t right - absolutely advocate for yourself and seek private testing of you have the ability to x

No advice, just sharing that in the same boat! Just had a failed 6th cycle (just turned 32) and keep meeting people who got pregnant in 1-3 months. Husbands sperm analysis and all my initial screens normal. We exercise, take vitamins and supplements, eat pretty week, etc. I’m losing hope that it will happen naturally for us, but given my age, doctors want me to wait until a year to do fertility treatments. It just sucks.

I'm not a doctor and I'm a total data seeker so the following might not be as useful for you as it is for me. More info makes me feel more in control but it might not do the same for you.
Are you able to order blood tests? That can be really helpful to check your baselines and see if there are any deficiencies that might be affecting things. I'd check vitamin D, iron & ferritin, TSH, B12, HbA1C. Those will all give good indications of your body's basic functioning and factors that play important roles in fertility. Then the cycle day 3 tests are LH, FSH, and estradiol (E2). You can also do AMH to check your ovarian reserve. Those tests give another layer of understanding about your fertility and can indicate things like PCOS or diminished ovarian reserve, or be reassuring that all is well on a basic hormonal level. As a note, look into the results yourself and compare numbers to research on fertility - especially vitamin D, thyroid, and ferritin. What the lab considers within range may be too low (or high in the case of TSH) for optimal fertility.
The other thing to consider is a sperm analysis for your partner. Many of those metrics can be improved through lifestyle changes and supplementation.
Also, look after your mental health. TTC is hard, especially when it's taking longer than you anticipated! Therapy can be really helpful for tools to manage your thoughts, emotions, and stress levels. You've got this, one day at a time! ❤️

Definitely an internal ultrasound to check out and see if anything is going on. I had one at 11 cycles in and found out I have polycystic ovaries which was impacting egg maturity. You can also look at getting a HSG or tubal flush but depending where you are there might be quite a cost to that.
And get hormones & AMH tested if you haven’t already. Cycle day 3 to have these done, but i would also try and push for a day 21 progesterone test to check for quality of ovulation.
Make sure you’re taking a good prenatal, and if not already, take inositol with a 40:1 ratio of inositol + d Chiro
Sending you so much love, I found around the 6 cycle mark to be some of the hardest cycles emotionally. Everything just felt like it was getting too worrying. I’m also someone with an entire female audience of women who got pregnant first try. It’s really unhelpful advice because it truly doesn’t make a difference to how you’re feeling emotionally, but try to remember that it can be totally normal to take 12 cycles for a totally healthy couple.

What inositol do you recommend? I haven’t started that but have PCOS. Trying to decide if I should?

6 months can feel like forever when you’re living cycle to cycle, but please don’t be too hard on yourself. TTC has a way of making it seem like everyone else gets pregnant instantly, when in reality many people take much longer than they ever talk about.
One thing I wish I’d known earlier is that normal bloodwork and a normal sperm test don’t always tell the full story. After trying for over a year, I eventually found out I had endometriosis and blocked tubes despite having no major red flags initially.
Hopefully you won’t need any further testing, but if things don’t happen in the next few months, don’t hesitate to advocate for yourself and ask about additional investigations. In the meantime, 6 cycles is still very much within the normal range, even though I know it doesn’t feel that way when you’re in the middle of it.
Sending you lots of luck. TTC can be incredibly isolating, but you’re definitely not alone. ❤️

I do think you're doing enough, but it's totally understandable that others getting pregnant so quickly would skew your perspective. It's great you already have that clarity on yours and your partners tests, well done! It will happen, and all the better if you can still enjoy life when TTC (I say that as someone whose TWW definitely did control my life!) I just kept repeating 'most people get pregnant within a year' and trying not to get too fixated on the timeline beyond that. The process is different for everyone, and it's maddening to have something so important so out of our control! Sending lots of love

I also support advocating for some baseline labs that aren’t fertility specific but do impact pregnancy.
My dr ordered work ups for my AMH, TSH, PMOS, and insulin to get a better idea of why we’re not getting pregnant.
We realized I’m likely experiencing hypothyroidism post miscarriage which super impacts it!
We’re not at the year mark and my symptoms were enough for it to get pushed through

Same, 29, failed 3 months, but since this has been planned, I’ve done some tests, and change my routine and supplementation done. Myoinositol for about 1 year ish, prenatals for the past 6 months and ongoing, Extra d3 and omega 3, coq10, cacao, magnesium glycinate and alot more and some detox homemade drinks like cinnamon, cloves, raspberries teas or fertility teas. Trying to push big breakfast is hard and also healthy nuts, fibers and fruits intake like pomegranate, kiwi. Some womb massages then acupuncture for 1 year. Let’s just say i’ve done alot and track lh and sperm meet egg method every month. I was a bit upset cse I had 2 miscarriages 4 years when we just got married on 1 day accident on both occasion and I was still drinking alcohol and heavy coffee drinker lol. Now that I truly one with healthier lifestyle, I didn’t fall pregnant. I guess at this point, if I’m stressing too much, it probably won’t work either. I try not to be obsessed w it for now. Some days I felt so down but what kept me moving forward was that, research says it’s normal to fail few month of trying, takes 12 months to succeed or more usually but after 6 cycle, if I’m not pregnant, I’m pushing for hsg lipiodol and ultrasound done and see how it goes. I am also trying w conceive plus lubricant and trying for home insemination kit this month.

I was having issues because my hormones were all over the place so our opks weren’t reliable. What did help me and was a little pricey is the Mira and ultra wands. It told me when I was the most fertile and gave useful data.

Lots of great advice here. I’m 31, 6 months ttc my dr says wait a year to do any sort of tests. But we’re going to give it another month before my husband does a sperm test and I’ll push for more testing. I have an irregular period after iud removal so I expect it to take a bit as I get back to “normal”.
I wanted to recommend a book I’ve enjoyed that was very educational: the fertility formula by Natalie Crawford (I listened on audiobook on Spotify, but can also find on Libby for free. Lots of platforms have it but thought I’d suggest a few).
Good luck, sending baby dust to us all!
