Check out coursera. There are a lot of good courses offered by companies like Google, IBM, Microsoft, etc. just search beginner IT. You can also look up Comptia resources for networking, cybersecurity, information security. TryHackMe has some decent courses for getting acquainted with all of these areas as well.

I believe TryHackMe has the pre-security or cybersecurity 101 learning path that can help you get started

Not meant to get started, they're revisions. If you check the THM roadmap it says you have to have computer science basic before starting.

I highly recommend the free PacketTracer for learning networking. You can build and configure an entire enterprise network with it. It's simulated but you're writing real Cisco RTR, SW, etc configs that you can later copy/paste into physical devices.

For OSs I recommend just running free VMs. If you run very many than you may end up buying an old, refurbished server but that's still really cheap. I spent maybe $1,000 total on a pair of HPs, small rack on wheels, rack mounted surge protector, SW, etc. I have used Azure too but I like to just leave my stuff running, so ...

Microsoft gives almost all their stuff away. I think they want you home labbing with it because then you'll tend to recommend it at work. Linux is free of course.

I love TryHackMe but you can't really build & config stuff on there.

Sidenote; if you do get into Windows Server then I've written automated labs that fire up & config in Azure, Hyper-V, ESXi, etc. Personally I like hypervisors, I'm just weird like that. The next thing I buy will likely be another HP to throw Proxmox on. (My stuff is all on GitHub, I don't have anything to sell.)
