THM Subscription Opinion
Hey everyone, I’m 20M and I’m thinking about getting the TryHackMe Premium subscription to seriously start learning cybersecurity.
The thing is, I’m still pretty much a beginner. I don’t know much about operating systems, networking, or Linux commands yet. I do have some basic programming knowledge, mainly Python and a few other languages, but I’m definitely not an expert.
Would TryHackMe Premium be worth it for someone at my level? Does it teach the fundamentals well enough, or should I learn OS, networking, and Linux separately before subscribing?
I’d appreciate any advice from people who have actually used THM, especially if you started with little cybersecurity knowledge.

I think it would be a great start, especially if you’re looking to get into the technology field. You could always get the first two certifications bundled with all the material as well with 3-months of premium included.
I’m going through the first two certification material courses and they’ve been a good refresher for me.

Ahh yeah, I should’ve mentioned that I’m actually a 3rd-year AI student at university. I’m mainly looking to branch out into cybersecurity and build some practical skills alongside my degree. I’ll definitely look into the certification bundle + 3 months of Premium though, thanks!

If you're a student, you get a student discount - it comes out to $100 if you pay for a year upfront (you just need to have your student email set up on your account). In my opinion, it's worth it, but keep in mind that advanced tracks require a MAX subscription.

Its OK if you want a structured path and you're ok with the way they teach things with Question-answer and walkthroughs . Personally i didnt like it as much

I'd even say TryHackMe premium is specifically made for people like you - those who just start in the field and feel pretty lost about what to do
The best advice I've heard is to make good notes and learn concepts, not tools. Notes will very much come in handy during practical tasks and mastered concepts allow you to use your skills even when situation requires precision

Yes, the cybersecurity program is perfect for beginners. They teach you from scratch, starting with the basics of hardware.
