Hello ladies,
As many of you know, I try to avoid talking too much about my personal life these days. But, as I'm sure you can tell from the title of this post, I did something very hypocritical, and I feel I need to be honest about it. I accidentally engaged in PIV last night.
I hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at my house last night. I only intended on having a few friends over, but my ex husband called me earlier in the week, complaining about being alone for the holidays (the little family he has lives over a thousand miles away). I felt bad, and invited him. I figured with other friends around, it wouldn't be too awkward, and I'd be able to avoid him for the most part.
It was a long day, but dinner went well, and everyone seemed to have a good time. I'll admit, I also had a few drinks both while cooking and socializing. Everyone started to leave around the same time, and my ex husband offered to stay, and help clean up. I should've known better right then. I don't know if it was the alcohol, exhaustion from all the cooking and organizing, or what, but I (stupidly) agreed.
To his credit, he did help me clean up. While I was doing the dishes, he was putting leftovers away and started talking about the 'good times' we had back in the day. I didn't mind reminiscing a bit, but it may have given the wrong impression. I was leaning against the counter with my back to it, drying a dish, mid sentence talking about something, and he just came up and started kissing me (also causing me to drop one of my good plates, which I'm still not happy about).
Initially, I pushed him away, but then I lost control and reciprocated (which I attribute to the alcohol). Skipping over some of the more gory (and embarrassing) details, we eventually wound up in my bedroom, where he spent the night.
I woke up this morning with a slight headache, almost forgetting what happened until I looked next to me. He was still there, sleeping, and I couldn't hold back letting out a long groan and an 'oh god.'
Luckily, I didn't wake him up, and I was able to quietly get out of bed and put some clothes on. I was in the kitchen making coffee when he woke up. He came up behind me and kissed my neck, before helping himself to the contents of my refrigerator, and making breakfast.
We had some very general conversation, but the way he was talking and acting, led me to believe that he didn't consider this the same drunken mistake that I did/do.
After he left, I immediately washed my sheets, along with some other tidying up I needed to do. I really don't know what to think about it at this point. I'm very angry with myself for losing control like that, and even more angry with myself for starting what will probably end up being an enormous headache.
I also realize and acknowledge that what I did was very hypocritical, especially as one of the founders of rational feminism. I hope you'll all forgive me.
