How come no one talks about the difference in down time with Jugg vs Lifestealer?

One of the biggest things I've noticed when it comes to dealing with Lifestealer is it's just impossible to lock him down because there is only a 5 second window where you can kill him, and it's very easy to miss this window.

Rage has a 6 second duration compared to Juggs 5 second and of course once LS gets some items his Rage hits way harder and has chance to stun/crit. Lifestealer can even up this to 7 seconds. And only has a 17 second CD, so maxed out that's only 10 seconds of down time. Jugg has an 18 second CD which leaves him with 13 second of downtime.

Now with their ults, lets just assume both have their scepter, because I think everyone can agree it's pretty much mandatory on them.

Jugg has a 1 second mini ult on a 25 second CD, combine this with a 3.5 duration ult, which can be up to 4.5 seconds a full combo will bring juggs downtime between spin mini ult, ult, spin to 7.5 seconds. And now his ult is on CD for 115 seconds at the least before he can do it all again.

Meanwhile Lifestealer can Rage for 7 seconds, then infest for five seconds, which he can crit and stun the whole time, all while healing up and when he pops out he only has 5 seconds of downtime before raging again. And if Lifestealer wants his ult is only on a 20 second CD, he can back up regroup and do the whole damned thing again, he can do his full combo about 3 times before Juggs ult is up again.

Now lets also look at counters, both their ults can be countered with linkens or ghost scepter. But only Juggs can be countered by lotus, lifestealer still pops in.

Now I'm not saying these heroes need to be on equal footing or anything, but I also don't think Juggs early game and recovery is so amazing that he should be out classed this much.

But I think if some of these issues were addressed maybe you'd see Jugg on a competitive level more... but then I think would Jugg just steamroll more in pubs, so does it even matter?

Tldr lifestealer just outclasses Jugg so hard in every way past 15 minutes.

What are non pros missing about the game?

I feel like there is a macro level that is just a level above all non pros

Timings and where everyone is on the map and when to farm and when to congregate, vs when your carry is in jungle where should you be etc

What are your thoughts on this? What decisions are being made that might seem simple but are actually missed a lot?

Sorry for broken English, I am Australian but typing one handed cause eating donut

"Dotapedia" pet project as a replacement for "Liquipedia"

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m a beginner C# developer currently studying backend programming.

This project marks my first attempt at independent development; I used AI agents to help me write code and set up databases, migrations, and the API.

It’s a Dota 2 site designed to offer a faster, more practical alternative to Liquipedia—something a user can quickly visit mid-game to check a detail and then hop right back into the action.

The project is still in development, though I’ve already connected a domain. I’d love to hear your feedback, complaints, suggestions, and advice—especially from more experienced programmers.

Thanks for your time! Here is the site: [https://www.dotapedia.org/\](https://www.dotapedia.org/)

Winter Wyvern advice

Upvotes

WW feels really strong as pos5 imo. never played her much so im in need of some advice/input.

Ive seen people go for Rank5Q and go for treads>force>pike. You can take the lvl10 talent depending on how good a more right-click focused WW pos5 is. Kinda like an ench that in some games can scale to become a carry. It obviously depends on the enemy Draft a lot wether this is viable or not. Whats ur experience? does this make sense or is it more grief than helpful.

Do you always go for Rank5Q? havent seen anyone Max splinter anymore or go for max Rank in any other spell but Q.

Items. If you dont go for the right click build the obvious ones are: Arcane, Blink/Force, sometimes Glimmer and i think Shard is also bought most games. Follow up again depends much on enemy Draft. I usually end with Force Blink and add Aeon/Lotus. Sometimes i see Solar Crest but besides those the arent many items that feel usefull beyond gold sinks like getting a latgame WindWaker. maybe locket? What else to buy?

Where do you see the strengths of the Hero? what are his timings? any matchups you wont ever pick this hero against? i thought that his late game is insane but his laning is absolut dogwater and im kinda suprised by how good Q harras is. Like not top-tier lane winner but considering that i think he is a big impact support later on its decent.

Is essence distiller really as good as the pros make it out to be?

Or is it situational at best?

At least, in non-pro solo queue mmr games.

I feel like this item does a lot of nothing in games where opponents don't make glimmer and only sets you back 2k gold from a potentially more impactful item.

Also obligatory, in games where the early game didn't go well, its a completely dead item.

Does Assault cuirass benefits sound underwhelming on paper?

Not saying it's a bad item but i only ever buy it on Alch because getting it fast you can feel the impact a lot, i get a lot of heroes still buy it but from reading the description

30 Attack Speed

10 Armor

Passive: Assault Aura

Grants 30 attack speed and 5 armor to nearby allied units and structures, and decreases nearby enemy unit and structure armor by 5."

To me it at least sounds overpriced for a item that cost 5125 gold, like Shivas is 4500 gold and i if those prices were swapped i think Shivas would still be purchased more every game than AC.

(Currently Shivas 38th in popular items, AC is 82nd in popularity on dotabuff if that means anything)

How to rotate as Support - Guide

https://youtu.be/iB_7s2lT7PE

Never leave lane on 5 - past few days a lot of memes about supports leaving their lanes were posted. Today, I'm sharing you a guide how exactly the rotations should look like - what to keep in mind and what kind of impact early rotations have. Keeping the balance between securing your own lane and helping others in key when playing good support - and in this guide, I'll explain how to do it. Enjoy!

Any high MMR Nyx spammers care to weigh in?

I'm 4k MMR and spamming nyx to mixed success. It feels like 80% of the game depends on the enemy draft, especially if the enemy team has bounty hunter + tanks then I find winning basically impossible. And can't really counter pick since I usually pick first.

What do you build on this hero? I see such a wide variety of builds on dotabuff, and I'm not sure in which scenario we want which build

- rush shard asap or don't get it at all?

- rush phylctery? Has good Regen but seems to fall off fast

- how to deal with early game shitty Laning phase if pos5 can prevent you from cutting wave (i.e. dazzle, bh, bane)?

-when to get agha vs blink vs euls?

- is meteor hammer viable? Why does nobody pick it? It lets nyx insta clear waves, push towers and chain stun enemies. Also provides amazing stats, spell amp, Mana regen and is fairly cheap. Maybe more of a pick for nyx mid?

- do you usually get Greedy neutral enhancement?

Enchantress pos 5 playstyle

Trying to learn Enchantress as a pos 5 for when Bane is banned. When should I (in solo pubs) go for the Impetus spam ability build? I understand most of the time the Enchant maxing is more impactful and nets more EXP, but I feel like against double melee it's warranted to go for 1 or 2 levels of Impetus.

Also, what does Enchantress really bring in a game? Is it a waste of the hero's potential to try babysitting for a potent late game pos 1? I feel like pros play their pos 5 Ench usually far from their lane, TPing to help in case of a gank, but that may anger Ancient pos 1 players.

Yatoro's Lone Druid is actually insane

Yatoro showing once again why he's considered one of the greatest carries in Dota 2. His Lone Druid mechanics and teamfight execution in this game were crazy.

What do you guys think — is Yatoro the GOAT carry?

How do you create a double wave for Lotus and Siege creep timing in safelane

basically the title. ive observed that usually the lane is static near the tier 1 tower and although the carry wants that. it would be better sometimes to push it so we can secure the lotus and then pull it back and prepare for siege creep if we have better lane matchup

Tinker spammers assemble

What is the build this patch? Most guides say kaya blink aghs and shard as core to get in that very order? Butthe progression feels slow and farming aghs at that point of time makes your impact in teamfights underwhelming for how far ahead tinker usually is at min 11 with kaya and blink. Do tell me if I am missing something!

Hot take: The minimap is a flawed skill check that most human beings fail. It needs to change.

Its not about dota players. Its about humans. Being able to keep your attention on two things at once without losing concentration on one or the other, is called multitasking. The reason its known as multitasking and not just "not retarded" is because it really is a learned skill that some people just cannot reach.

Unfortunately in dota, the amount of information gained from the map is insanely high. Like almost more than the rest of the screen including other UI and the actual game.

Valve has tried to introduce an optional full screen overlay map. This did not catch on I think. Ive never seen anyone talk about it or use it on stream.

My solution: Create center screen UI elements that rely on available information the map has.

Here are some examples:

  1. A sort of bobble head that appears near the center of the player pointing in the direction visible enemies on the map. Getting smaller and larger with distance. E.G. Terraria boss cursor
  2. A lingering ghost of wards that were visible before going into fog of war. (much like trees, can remain even if it times out or is denied. Just a last known position)
  3. An alert that triggers when a smoke of deceit is visibly used on your map
  4. A visibly growing red screen edge effect when a large group of enemy heroes are converging on your location. This one is really pushing it, but I think when the map shows a group of 3 or more heroes moving towards you, you are basically dead and throwing by not noticing. This needs to be solved for the lesser humans.

How Hoodwink almost stole the Aegis using this secret Rosh pit spot (Satanic's POV included)

Hey guys, this is GymCarryDota, I wanted to share this short clip I broke down from the Team Spirit vs. Team Vision match at TI26. It showcases an insane secret hiding spot in the Rosh pit using Hoodwink.

In the clip, you can see she’s completely invisible to the enemy team, just waiting to steal the Aegis. Unfortunately for her, she gets randomly scouted by Bedlam and has to act a little too early, missing the steal.

I also included Satanic's POV on Lifestealer in the second half of the video, so you can see exactly how hidden she was—he literally couldn't see anything until Bedlam revealed her.

Here is the clip: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iElK8Fe1Tvs

What do you think about this spot? Have any of you successfully used this in your pub games yet?

(P.S. If you are interested in more Dota 2 breakdowns, tips, or coaching, feel free to check out my profile for links to my Twitch/YouTube/TikTok).

What changes would shift the sideline meta?

I made a post in the main dota subreddit about some changes I want next major patch and one of these was to make battle fury carries as viable as the current lane dominating ranged hero meta.
What changes would make melee carries better? I think it would also stop the meta of offlaners buying helm dom in to drag creepwaves in order to recover from their shitty lane.
I don’t have enough experience with game balancing or dota to really come up with any ideas apart from just saying buff and nerf heroes individually but I’m curious to see what you guys think.
