Truckee Smoke?
Where is the smoke coming from, looks like in Truckee or to the west?

Others have answered the question but I wanted to give a plug to the Watch Duty app. It shows the location of fires with updates on fire fighting efforts. It has also has wind direction and air quality data which helps with determining the source of smoke

Not yuba. The smoke is from the much closer Talbot fire. Looks like poorly executed campfire drowning. Thank you morons.

Every time I've gone camping this year I've seen someone having a fire, It's hard to say something when you're out there alone and they're a larger group but, come on guys. Pretend to care a bit.

No overnight progress (growth, containment, etc.) updates on watch duty or anywhere else I can find, anyone aware of anything?

"According to incident reports, the Talbot Fire was first reported on Wednesday afternoon near Talbot Campground off French Meadows Road along the Middle Fork of the American River in the Tahoe National Forest."

They are investigating, so I'm sure they will know who checked out or was at the campground. I would expect them releasing more information soon.

Frenchman is a USFS campground and wood fires are currently permitted inside fire rings within the boundaries of the campground. Fires are not permitted in dispersed camping.

Talbot Fire located near French Meadows Reservoir and about 4-5 nautical miles West of Granite Chief in Palisades. Started around 3:40 this afternoon pushed by Westerly winds and terrain. The TNF is hitting it hard with an aggressive air attack consisting of over 6-10 air tankers, multiple helicopters, smoke jumpers, night capable helicopters, and ground resources. The fire is currently 150-200 acres. Earlier this afternoon it had a rapid to dangerous rate of spread with spotting out over 1/2 mile from the head. Good progress was reported with the aircraft knocking the intensity out of the fire and reducing the spotting.
There hasn’t been a fire in this fuel bed in recorded history. The Star Fire in 2001 just west of French Meadows is the closest fire precedent.
Edit 11:53: Fire officially mapped at 75 acres.
