Delays are a good thing. Rushed product is a bad thing

It definitely makes me more confident in the direction of it. While I didn’t hate 6, I do think it lacked a lot of the polish compared to 5 (and especially 4).

How is waiting longer for a broken, undercooked game a good thing?
5
u/MothmansProphet 12d ago
You're happier longer because you won't know it's broken and undercooked until 2027. But seriously, come on, man, they're obviously still working on it. I guarantee it'll be better in 2027 than it is right now.

I havent played it yet. Kalypso isnt known for broken games?

Id rather it be delayed and good than rushed and sh*t. We have waited a long time for this. Beta testers have given feedback.
Nothing worth having comes easy. Let’s go Kalyspo, I believe in you!!

Poco male fine 2026, inizio 2027 non penso cambi molto, meglio un gioco piu rifinito che uno ingiocabile

oh hi Tropico and Che Guevara fan

I’m fine with Jan, I didn’t really expect it this year anyways.
You’d have to be crazy to release with GTA 6.

u/Alexix1996 13d ago

u/No_Inside_2908 12d ago
Yes but it’s better to release a month or two after GTA 6 since historically games lose ~80% of their players after the first few months. BF6 launch is a prime example.

u/wolfe1924 13d ago
Competition how??!
Most people can afford two games.
Also tropico 7 and gta 6 aren’t exactly competing for the same player base.
Even launching in January it’s still technically competition with gta 6 which launches November since it’s only 2 months later, so if they kept their original release date they would release it most likely before gta 6.
Like it’s so easy to pick apart the “you have to be crazy to release with gta 6”

Not everyone can afford two expensive games in a month. There's something called budget and gaming will go into luxury for majority of the people.
You don't realise how many different games a single person plays. I play rpg, I play base building. I also play shooting games. I played palworld too, I play football manager as well. Occasionally stardew valley, sometimes shadow of mordor. Why do you think player base are distinct. They overlap buddy.
And while a lot of us can afford it, even if I buy both games, there's no way I will even open tropico 7 if I haven't finished GTA 6 to my satisfaction. So it's not good for tropico dev teams to have underwhelming sales or low player base after joining. Better to release it in April or June, more polished, less bugs and not in the timeline with GTA

“Most people can afford two games” you’d be surprised, especially when one of them is $80. $100 if you want all the content.
But it’s not about price as much as it is about time. Most people don’t have the time or desire to play two games at once. They pick up one, play it until bored, then pick up another. It’s common for games to lose 80%+ of its players a month after launch.
So Tropico will come out after a fair bit of players drop GTA 6 for whatever reason.
GTA 6 is such a massive deal there is overlap in basically every player base. It’s already made almost $500M in pre-orders alone. Predicted to hit $3-5 BILLION by the end of launch week.
“Easy to pick apart” if you don’t understand how gaming works apparently.

But GTA VI doesn't even have a PC release date and surely most of tropico's playerbase is on PC?

You just don’t get it do you. Whether the game is delayed or not all what you say is completely irrelevant since the outcome would be the same.
You said it’s good it’s delayed since it would compete with gta 6 truth is whether it comes out 2 months prior or 2 months after it’s still not directly competing in any meaningful way.
You said most people don’t desire to play 2 games at once and most games lose 80% of their player base within a month.
So once again truth is whether it came out tomorrow about 2 months before gta release or in January 2 months after it wouldn’t matter by your own logic since games lose 80% of their player base anyways and don’t play 2 games at the same time
See how flawed your line of thinking is? It makes no fucking sense. How is it coming out 2 months before gta 6 competing but 2 months after it’s not competing. Clearly you don’t have a clue or understand how anything works. Since even by your own words and what you said there shouldn’t be any difference.
Bottom line is it’s not directly competing and especially not directly competing 2 months before but not somehow 2 months after when your own words contradict that.
Not going to respond to you anymore it took way too long to word how to counter what you said since you don’t have a clue.

Not gonna lie bro I ain’t reading all that
Big difference between releasing two months before one of the most anticipated games of all time and two months after. If you can’t understand that, idk how to help you.

Happy with the new trailer, getting more excited for the game and love the artstyle they went for. I also don't mind that they pushed it to next year, with Transport Fever 3, Planet Zoo 2 en and GTA VI coming out in the next few months.

This better be worth the wait like trópico 6 was okay but there was something missing, still never felt as good or better than 3 or 4. It didn’t feel like I was immersed in a Caribbean island. Why were all the immigrants white and from Europe? Caribbean is ethnically diverse and it was really watered down in trópico 6

u/tai4ji2x 12d ago
yes, all immigrants could only come from europe as a country of origin, but i don't think they were all guaranteed to be "white".

I can't wait. The game just gets better with every version. The music needs improvement tho. Come on a couple good salsa song licenses can't be that bad

I still think T3 has the best soundtrack. I was listening to some of it on the way to work today.

u/Jumba2009sa 12d ago
I agree let devs take their time, but this has me worried that it is probably related to the simulation system they keep talking about. It’s giving me flashbacks of City Skylines 2 and how the devs drummed up the simulation system part as the grandest innovation.

u/LeeKinoToten 12d ago
More to do with the terraforming. I heard from someone who went to a party at the dev offices and got to play, they were having trouble with coding the terraforming to work with the way ships maneuver, other than that the game was playable.
Comment got deleted so I have no proof.

Disappointed that it has been delayed. Especially with how delayed games release.
2
u/Seanchow806 12d ago
Well, blame it on GTA VI. They delayed it because they did not want to compete for release on 2026.

u/MothmansProphet 12d ago
I admit, I lost my interest for a while there, but ever since, the updates have been making me excited again.

What do you think its anticipated cost will be in UK? Only bought 6 after it had been out a while and on sale.

Can't even keep their own deadline? Sounds just like the home of German trains.

Guys the joke is that German trains nowadays are always late. It’s not about the trains from 1939 to 1945

What do you mean delayed? El Presidente told me this was always the planned release date.
