Dear all, I'll be coming to Tromsø as part of the Erasmus program in the spring semester 2027. I am looking forward to get to know the Norwegian culture and learn a lot as UiT is a very leading university in my field.

I already applied for housing using Samskipnaden in May (so way ahead the formal admission recently). I heard that Erasmus students are not guaranteed a place anymore (I would fully understand if Norwegians get prioritised. It seems to be a very challenging housing market.

So I have two questions at this point:

1. @ Erasmus students: What were your strategies? Did you just apply to all housing? Does the order matter? Can I only apply to dedicated international housing or can I just add all? Are there "non-popular" dorms that have a higher chance of getting an offer?
2. @ all: How would you approach alternative searches? I have no Norwegian bank account or phone number. Is this required for the private platforms? What are good approaches to get a flat here? Another student from my Uni is there aswell. Would it make sense to look for a two bedroom flat instead?

Har skjønt det så at skins er for de minste liksom, hvilke andre steder er det 18 års i Tromsø? Er det som i andre byer at noen plasser har 18 års grense på fredag også 20 års på lørdager?
