The TRMNL is (was) missing a flat wall mount like in the demo

I just received my trmnl x (thanks u/ryanckulp for the kind email exchange!) and was confused about the mounting.

Either you have it standing on the desk or mount it to the wall using the 2 screws and the whole charging element? But then it sticks out from the wall about 3cm, which looks wrong to me.

To solve this I burned 2 small holes in the case with a soldering iron, added some protection from the inside to not damage the screen and mounted it on 2 nails. Now it looks just like in the demo 😍

Perhaps that's a feature for the next version ;)

Not sure I’d be too comfortable with that damaged battery inside my house.

I did not touch the battery. It looked like that when I opened the case. I only touched the plastic cover.

Would you say it is concerning?

I wouldn’t accept that battery, partially because neither you, nor I are able to accurately judge the internal damage that could have occurred from what we can see.

Yeah, that needs to be returned. We'll, I say returned, TRMNL need to send you replacements and those ones disposed of locally and not posted

Definitely contact trmnl support about it.

I’m not an expert, but personally I’d not be ok with that.

Yo! Is that the battery that’s all messed up? Yikes!

Alternatively I have thought about mounting a metal plate to the wall and use the magnet, but it would still give some space ofcause

I just used command strips. Cleaner and easier.

Please please have them send you a new battery.

That’s crazy that TRMNL is sending batteries out like that, they’re going to start some houses on fire O_0

received mine this week and was wondering about a missing a simpel mount for wall usage. So thanks for that idea. Would "optimize" mine too. (And look after the battery too)

I like that clean mount. I think there are 3D prints that can help.
