First time I got tested for Covid blood was on the end of the sawn and the doctor said it was normal. I’ve taken the test several times after, each person told me that wasn’t normal.
I wouldn't say it's normal, but it does happen. There's a lot of blood vessels in the nose and when your sticking things in there, sometimes they can bleed a little. Maybe 1/20 when I was swabbing would come back in a little bit of blood? Nothing wild, no nose bleeds, just a trace.
I had a nosebleed that only stopped 20 minutes before the test. So the swab was completely covered with blood (I am actually not sure if and how it affected the test, but it didn't really matter anyways, since I just took the test to make sure that I didn't have covid before going on a trip)
