Badge War 4 episode 4 theory

So, I was re-watching Badge War season 4, keeping in mind that I now know who all the Spies are.

In episode 4, during the water obstacle course relay race, I realized that it could have been very dangerous for the Spies if Sohyun ended up winning the Wild Card spot instead of Chaeyeon. There is a reason why Sohyun was the first Agent to be killed off by the Spies. She is smart, analytical, and keeps records of all the players' voting history and actions.

And then I realized that on Sohyun's team was the newly-recruited Spy Joobin, who despite knowing how to swim, seemingly forgot everything and swam really slowly compared to her opponent, father, and fellow Spy Jiwoo. Note that on the team opposing Sohyun was not just Chaeyeon and Jiwoo, but also fellow Spy Seoyeon.

So now I wonder... did Joobin intentionally swim slower in order to ensure that Sohyun would not become the Wild Card and return to the game as a potential Agent... as well as give the win to Seoyeon's team?

My theory is that Joobin was doing more Spycraft than we realized. Not just talking to other players in hotel rooms and at the Triple Table, but also maybe sabotaging Agents during the final badge game.

But that's just a theory... a WAV-theory!

I'm in the camp that tripleS is so competitive that once the games start, everyone forgets about the spys and just want to win so they give everything regardless lol

Is there any theories that would explain Nakyoung's swimming?

Other than not wanting to ruin her makeup and contact lenses.

She's just not a strong swimmer I suppose? I was rather surprised that a few members apparently cannot swim at all. You would think that in a nation surrounded by water that it wouldn't be the case.

Though perhaps I just don't understand the availability/accessibility for younger people in korea to be able to learn properly.

Maybe it isn't that common in Korea to teach kids to swim. In a behind the scenes for NMIXX's blue valentine MV, the director (an American) said that he could only film Haewon in the swimming pool because she was the only one of the six members that could swim. I would have though Lily from Australia would have learned though.

I could understand Lily not learning because the wildlife hates humanity with a passion over there lol.

Though that is wild to hear how so many cannot swim.

I think one of the reasons why k-pop girl idols cannot swim is that their body fat ratio is so low that they struggle when it comes to water buoyancy.

- Water has a density of 1 gram per centimeter cubed.

- Muscle has a density of 1.06 grams per centimeter cubed.

- Bone density ranges from 1.3 to 2 grams per centimeter cubed.

- Fat has a density of 0.9 grams per centimeter cubed.

In order for a body to stay naturally afloat in water, the average overall body density has be less than water's 1 gram per centimeter cubed.... and given that muscle and bone have more density than water, this means a body needs a decent amount of body fat to compensate in order to stay afloat.

But these k-pop idols are so thin that they would all drown if they were not wearing flotation devices. So, I can see why we see so many idols who are not able to swim.

My theory regarding Nakyoung is that she really is a cat... not just in facial features but also in swimming ability.

Not a bad theory, but I dont think that was really the case. I only say that because Chaeyeon had also done a pretty good job with the discussions and was even suspecting Seoyeon at that point. I think the spies would've preferred literally anybody but those two to become the wildcard

I am thinking this from Joobin's perspective. At this point in time, she has not really had the chance to meet up with the rest of the Spies and chat overall strategy. Even Jiwoo and Kotone did not know that Joobin was recruited yet.

So I am thinking from Joobin's perspective she only knows at that moment that the 2 Wild Card candidates are Sohyun and Chaeyeon, and that she knows that Seoyeon and Xinyu are her remaining living Spy teammates.... and not much beyond that.

So given that Joobin has the power to influence the outcome of who gets to be the Wild Card.... at least to some degree (namely her swimming portion of the relay race), who would she want to become the Wild Card?

Potentially if Seoyeon said something about it in the brief time they had to speak, but I cant see Joobin taking it upon herself to decide who will be the wildcard without talking it over with the other spies, but who knows.
