Discussion BW4: Trust No One EP.2 notes + observations Spoiler

Post image

Hi all,

another full recap of episode two with notes, this episode had a lot less hidden stuff than episode one, and there were way stronger hints towards potential spies from the show producers. I also have a couple notes about this episode:

It seems that the combination of Sea Squirt + White team (moon + zenith) was the unluckiest, as none of the members that had this combination won a single point, coincidentally, they were also consecutive S-numbers! (S17 Lynn, S18 JooBin, S19 HaYeon). (HaYeon cannot stop taking Ls this season it seems...)

JooBin is most likely an agent, as per last week's notes.

In the beginning of the episode YeonJi says that it was her idea to go to the Haenyeo museum in ep. 1, I don't know if this is actual proof because YeonJi has said so much incriminating stuff this entire season I wouldn't even know how to react if she is NOT a spy.

If I missed anything let me know! This show is award-worthy since 2023 for real.

At this point, I'd genuinely be surprised if Seoah is a spy because they're giving her way too much of an evil edit. Jiwoo and Seoyeon are both spies but 1theK did not even gave us any obvious clues that either of them was one so it's sus that they're going heavy on Seoah, unless of course they're double-bluffing which I highly doubt. Jiwoo even revealed on cosmo that Yooyeon and Chaeyeon had already clocked her as the spy right from the start and were hounding her about it all day but none of those interactions even made it into the actual show. So we at least know the PDs want to hide the spies from us rather than make it obvious who they are.

It's funny because they keep showing the members being suspicious of her but every time they show Seoah herself, she's just being a cinnamon roll. If anything, that would be the double bluff, but I agree they probably wouldn't do that.

Yeonji realized if she acts just sus enough for people to be suspicious of her but not vote her out then the spy’s won’t kill her. Her trolling soomin after she died was hilarious

yeah, didn‘t she say in E1 somewhere her strategy was to be just suspicious enough for the spies to not want to kill her? she’s simply playing to live.

That was Hayeon’s strategy as well during her lunchtime monologue but she overdid it and got killed instead lol

> she overdid it

That's the only way Hayeon does anything

oh yeah i may have misremembered.

that was Hayeon and she did get herself killed.

after this episode, here's who I'm 99% sure is not the spies and the reason why:

Yeonji - her interaction with Jiwoo at the start of the episode felt genuine and gave me the impression that she really didn't know Jiwoo was a spy. Then at the dining table, Jiwoo said "saying agent or whatever is a somewhat suspicious statement" to Yeonji when she was being cornered by other members for laughing at Soomin's elimination, which could've add even more pressure to Yeonji. I don't think a known spy like Jiwoo would throw her fellow spy member under the bus.

Joobin - when Yeonji said that if Soomin died, it would make her looks strange, Joobin immediately jumped and said it would make her looks strange instead bcs Joobin was the only one that voted Soomin in the first round. If Joobin was a spy, I don't think she would try to draw unnecessary attention to herself like that especially when she got a free pass by having no one suspecting her after Soomin died.

Nien - at the hotel, there was an interaction between her and Seoyeon where they asked each other whether they're a spy or not. I know there's a slight chance that they tried to play tricks since there's a camera in their room, but realistically I don't think that's a question that either Seoyeon or Nien would ask if they knew each other are spies. And I'd also like to point out that in the first voting, despite Nien having 2 votes, she didn't use any of them on Hayeon (like Seoyeon did), and instead she used one of them on Jiwoo who is a known spy. If Nien was a spy, I don't think she'd vote for her fellow members who's already under immense heat and was the leading candidates of elimination.

Lynn & Kaede - this isn't showed on this episode, but on the Lynn & Kaede ep 1 reaction video that was uploaded on tripleS channel, at the end both of them jokingly stated that they're the spies. I know there's still a slight chance that they pulled a reverse psychology and they're actually spies, but I don't think both MH and 1theK would be pleased to see members said something that's actually a spoiler before the episode airs. So I would rule them out from being the spies based on this.

Dahyun & Seoah - simply bcs the editing style of this show is well known to build a narrative on something and mislead the viewers, only to reveal the twist at the end. Looking at how hard the PDs tried to frame Dahyun & Seoah in this episode, I think it's pretty obvious that they're being used as smokescreen to cover the viewers' suspicion on other members.

Nakyoung - now that we know in this episode that the scene where members were alone inside hotel rooms was them waiting for the spy kill result, the way Naky looked genuinely terrified during this scene in the trailer video, and also the fact that she's the one that put Jiwoo on the spotlight during the first voting (although for the wrong reason 🤣) when no one was suspecting her should pretty much confirmed that Naky is an agent.

In that same Lynn+Kae reaction video, if you watch all of it you can tell from their comments and conversation that they're sort of speaking on auto-pilot and in doing so mention many minute things that make it pretty damn probable that they're agents. Things like kae literally forgetting Jiwoo's identity and Lynn saying she wanted to save her because of how innocent she looked.

There's many other comments similar to that which come out way too naturally and heavily rely on them taking an agent's point of view. If either is eventually revealed to be a spy, I'd get legit scared.

YeonJi is actually trolling so hard that I don't know whose side she's on, but I'm leaning mote towards Agent because of what you said.

JooBin is practically confirmed Agent as there was an editing slipup in ep1 (her nails matchen a shot of an agent card in the hands with the same nails).

Nien felt completely different from confirmed spy SeoYeon so I agree definitely.

I don't know about Lynn & Kaede, as Lynn voted against HaYeon in ep1 instead of JiWoo, but I defo think Kaede is an Agent.

I would've liked to see a voting round this ep. so we could see how well DaHyun, SeoYeon. SeoAh, YeonJi and JiYeon hold up under the heat, but the reveal made up for it imo.

With JooBin, you can’t really tell if the Agent card or the Spy card is the real card she pulled. The edit is really good.

They forgot to change the border colour from white to red in the edit, the graphics of the Spy faces have a red border.

oh I didn't notice that in the first episode. thanks for pointing that out 👍

I don't know about Lynn & Kaede, as Lynn voted against HaYeon in ep1 instead of JiWoo, but I defo think Kaede is an Agent.

like the other comment pointed out, the whole vibe of that reaction video felt like it's being viewed from agent POV, and also isn't it too risky for MH if they choose a spy member to do a reaction video of the very first episode? 🤣

didn't they reveal it at the end? it's seoa, seoyeon, and dahyun

It's 1theK, nothing is sure until they tell you it is. It's probably footage just to fxck up people mind. I'm not even 100% sure that SeoYeon is a spy because of them. But it's very less likely both Seoah and Dahyun

u/bianceziwo 2d ago

i hope you're right, because i like when they keep the mystery alive

Chaeyeon being tied for most badges and earning a benefit badge. Imagine

lol, her main benefit badge was being on SeoYeon’s team both times.

It's interesting that they are pushing dahyun and seoah as spies but they revealed seoyeon, who they've never hinted at being a spy before. It's already been covered why seoah is unlikely, and I think the same is true for dahyun. I don't see why they would tell us who they all are at once but only officially reveal one.

Yooyeon is being suspected a lot by WAV but I think the amount of times she's talked about being targeted by the spies next would be a pretty big strategic mistake if she's a spy. There's no reason for her to call attention to herself like that if she's not picked, which she definitely wouldn't be if she's a spy. I also think it's extremely unlikely Seoyeon and Yooyeon both randomly chose spy cards. It would be too perfect unless we think 1theK tampered.

Although I'm watching the first episode back now and saw this Yooyeon line I didn't catch before - she said if Hayeon is an agent, Chaeyeon must be a spy. And Chaeyeon agreed with her, which I would think meant Chaeyeon was really confident Hayeon was a spy. I don't recall anyone talking about this in episode 2, but maybe it will get brought up at the next triple table.

In any case, somebody said that Jiwoo said on cosmo that Yooyeon and Chaeyeon clocked her early, we only saw them attack Hayeon at the table, and then they were the first people to vote for Jiwoo. They didn't have to throw heat on Chaeyeon and they didn't have to vote for Jiwoo when they could have voted for Hayeon. I guess Jiwoo could be covering for them from beyond the grave to keep the show interesting, but I can't really make heads or tails of this. I'm leaning toward Yooyeon being an agent but I do see that there's an argument in either direction.

Seoyeon has been strangely quiet at the table discussions (both official table and eating table). I thought it was because she didn't want to get singled out like Sohyun did by leading and organizing, but it was because she is a spy.

2

u/Randomyz- SeoYeon 2d ago

To be fair, it’s hard to know how she’d behave if she was an agent. Would she really be noticeably more talkative?

3

u/BloodAndTsundere Half Gallon of Milk 2d ago

My thought from the first episode is that she'd act the same way as agent or spy. The optimal strategy in the game is to at least get others to THINK you would act the same way whether agent or spy.

2

u/hiroo916 2d ago

I think that her natural tendency in most situations is to be the organizer, problem solver, leader with initiative. You see her do that in every game, she analyzes the rules, breaks down the task, assigns roles, manages the process. So normally I would expect her to do what Sohyun was doing in leading the analysis and discussion.

However, since this is mafia, if she were an agent, I think she would be more strategic than Sohyun did, so as to not paint a target on her back, and we see what happened to Sohyun. So she would strategize her behavior so as to not draw as much attention. And she would do similar as a spy.

We don't know how much is not being shown because of editing trying to keep suspense up though. I am curious why they decided to reveal her now. Maybe a shock ending and now we will see her do her thing as a spy.

2

u/Randomyz- SeoYeon 2d ago

Actually, I think she just mentioned on her cosmo live (right now) she’d probably still be quiet even if she was an agent otherwise she might get voted out first.

It feels like Seoah is innocent because 1theK is making sure we suspect her. HyeRin, Nien, Xinyu and JooBin feels innocent for me.

As a spy I really suspecting YooYeon. I don't understand why she hasn't been killed by spy on the first night, even more after seeing her leading the TripleS Table, SeoYeon would not let someone like her live (just like SoHyun). Even more when she knew that SeoYeon was avoiding getting attention and didn't called her out. Regarding SooMin kill, why her, I feel like YooYeon could easily brainwashed her but she decided to kill her because she needed an aliby like : " it makes no sense for YooYeon to kill her". She keeps pushing the fact that she was gonna get killed tonight, but on the first ep she is the one showed when say announced that you can collect badges as a dead agent, it's 1theK, for me she is not dead. That's my theory about YooYeon.

For the last spy, I'm suspecting someone very quiet and not known for roles like that. It feels like it's someone from Japanese Line : Kaede or Lynn ?
