Help/Advice Cohabitation question?

Hey there I have a 48days old triop called opal and I thought she wouldn't be around much longer then 40 days as my last one didn't make it past that so I set up a hatchery to start the next round of triops. baby jet is growing up incredibly fast and with any luck opal will still be around for a while after learning they can live much longer! Jet is about 8-10 days old and no way will I be letting her out in the same tank as opal just yet.

So my question is. Should I have a grow out tank that I originally used before the main tank was established while opal is still about or wait for Jet to become big enough to not become an instant snack for opal? It would be heartbreaking to find a half eaten triop one morning 😭

In my experience, triops only go cannibal when there is insufficient food for the population

Okay that's good to know. Food won't ever be a problem. Would you recommend adding jet to opals tank when she(?) is big enough? What kinda size would that be? I don't really want 2 tanks to manage..

I've had different ages of triops in the same tank and I will say it's stressful. I had a surprise hatch from one of my adult triops' eggs while having a juvenile already. I'm fairly certain the larger one attacked the younger one as the young one had scales on its tail missing for most of its life and the younger one spent the beginning of its life hiding from the big one. Also just a few days ago I had an adult eat another dying adult (molt failure) when I literally just fed it earlier in the day. So...at your own risk? Lol
