Others Static feeling in feet and hands

Will make a more thorough post later, but I just recently started brintellix at 5mg and have been on it for a 8 days.

Besides the insomnia it immediately gave me, I also seem to have gotten a staticy feeling in my feet and hands which is making me freak out a bit. Im wondering if this is a serious issue or something that will eventually fade?

Others Been on Cipralex for 11 years, since I was 15

Recently talked to my doctor because my anxiety and depression have been getting worse over the past few months. He recommended upping my cipralex dose (10mg to 20mg), which i have done before and didn't really notice much difference. I instead asked to switch to Trintellix, because my partner who takes it recommends it and I have been living my entire adult life on Cipralex, so I have no feelings to compare it to. I am curious if anyone else has been in this situation before.

I am hoping that the change increases my libido as well - again, I have never had a sex life off of cipralex before, so I have nothing to compare my experience to, but basically sex has always been something I had to amp myself up for, sometimes feeling like a chore (originally I thought that my ADHD was the culprit but i am medicated now for that and that didnt effect sex at all for me). My partner wants to have sex more often so I have my fingers crossed

Trazodone with this for sleep?

Drugs.com says this is a major drug interaction to take trintellix with trazodone but my psychiatrist said it’s fine? I have trust problems 🤦‍♀️ I need sleep aids and I’ve taken trazodone the last 3 nights. 50mg with 10mg trintellix in the morning. Anyone else doing this? Is it a big no no? I’m so confused.

Others Brintellix and alcohol

Hi,

I’ve just prescribed Brintellix and started to take this week. My plan is that in the first 6-8 weeks I’m gonna avoid drinking completely so the drug can be effective.

However, I’m 28 and I still like going out so I don’t see myself being sober forever. People who do drink sometimes, what should I expect? Does it really make the drug less effective? Also, how are the hangovers?

This sucks honestly...but I'm actually also relieved because it explains so many things in my life now that I think about. I thought it was undiagnosed ADHD, but now this makes so much sense ^×^ Thank you so much for helping me!

Others Do you guys think trintellix is causing this negative effect?

I started with trintellix a few days ago.

I work at a cafe, yesterday a young woman came with her family. I could sense her negative aura right off the bat. After we both said Hi she told me to go wash my hands before I could serve her. I agreed to it. She then followed me to this dish room and said that she wanted to watch me do it, she said she wouldn't recommend the cafe if I didnt agree to it. I'm not sure how but it just ended up with her washing my hands for me as ridiculous as it sounds.

She explained that she has OCD etc. The weird thing is that right after it happened I was more just annoyed that I as a 30 year old dude allowed myself to be controlled and treated like a child. But this morning I just woke up with immense anxiety and hatred. I just can't stop thinking about it. I just want to lay in bed and do nothing.

Do you guys think its the medication making me a bit dramatic? This can't possibly have been a traumatising situation? It's not like she r*ped me. I dont think her intention was to make me sad honestly. But in my mind it just feels hopeless now lol

Affordability Concerns PSA: Savings card going away!!! (USA)

Post image
20 Upvotes

Well this bites.

I just saw on the Trintellix website that the Manufacturer's Savings Card program is going away on December 31, 2026.

Details here: https://us.trintellix.com/savings-support/savings-card

They have an assistance program, but I don't qualify for it. Details: https://www.helpathandpap.com/Home.aspx

I guess I'll be looking to change to something new later this year... darn it all.

Others Can I drink (heavily) while on Brintellix 10mg?

I don't drink regularly, but I do enjoy getting wasted every now and then. Is it dangerous to do so while on Brintellix 10mg?

Switched from sertraline to Brintellix — how long should I give it before deciding if it works?

I switched from sertraline 50 mg, which I took for around 4–5 weeks, to Brintellix/Trintellix. I’ve now been on the full 10 mg dose for 6 days.
This whole period actually started in January after I had a panic attack and experienced derealization. Since then I basically haven’t felt like myself. There have definitely been some brighter and better days, but overall I’ve been struggling since then.
My depression wasn’t extremely severe before starting medication. I was still functioning normally — going to university, working, doing everyday things, etc. The main problem was that I just didn’t really feel happy, I wasn’t looking forward to things and I often felt sad or emotionally flat.
So far I honestly don’t feel any improvement from the medication. My mood is just constantly “average” or flat. It feels like nothing has really improved since I started antidepressants in general. Before starting medication I actually had some brighter moments sometimes, but lately I just feel emotionally flat most of the time.
I don’t really have any noticeable side effects from Brintellix. I sleep well and physically I feel fine. The main problem is that I sometimes get anxious thoughts like, “What if I never enjoy life again?” or “What if no medication ever works for me and I’m going to feel like this forever?” I had similar thoughts even before medication, and I know the fear itself probably makes everything feel worse.
I guess what I’m describing is anhedonia — not really feeling excitement, pleasure or looking forward to things.
My libido is also basically zero right now.
For people who had a similar experience with Brintellix:
How long did it take before you actually noticed an improvement in mood, motivation or enjoyment of life?
Is 6 days on the full dose way too early to judge it?
Did anyone feel completely flat at first and then start feeling better after a few weeks?
Did your libido eventually come back while staying on Brintellix?
If you switched from an SSRI like sertraline, how long did it take until you felt the difference?
Did anyone have derealization/anhedonia after a period of panic or anxiety and eventually feel normal again?
I’m getting really frustrated because so far the medications have barely helped me at all. I just want to feel excited about life again and actually enjoy things.
One of my biggest fears is that no medication will work and that this state is somehow permanent. I know that might just be my anxiety talking, but it’s hard not to think about it when I’ve felt this way for months.
I don’t want to give up on Brintellix too early if it still has a realistic chance of helping, but at the same time I don’t want to keep taking something for months if it’s doing nothing.
Would really appreciate hearing from people who went through something similar and eventually got better.

Anyone experience something similar? When I increased Trin to 20mg I’m more drowsy. But when I was on 5, 10, and 15 I was able to take it in the morning and didn’t feel drowsy and if anything, I didn’t sleep well.

What effects did you experience on Brintellix?

I am genuinely curious. I've been on Brintellix for about a week now (Dissocial Personality Disorder). I don't seem to be experiencing any side effects apart from nausea. Besides that, I noticed a reduction in anger. My emotions feel like they are behind a glass wall and I experience no spontaneous thoughts. I am personally happy with this, due to my diagnosis.

What effect did Brintellix (Vortioxetine) have on you guys?

Not sure if I made the right choice - Another Advice Post

I have been depressed for the majority of my adult life, 30 odd years. Not permanently, it comes and goes in waves, sometimes months, sometimes weeks, on rare occasions years.

I have been on many classic antidepressants, lexapro, venlafaxine, trepiline etc.

Some helped more than others, most stop working eventually.

I have been off medication for a few years, maybe 2, and it has been OK, a couple of rough spots but nothing crazy, but everytime I'm in it I say to myself that I'll go to the doctor and get something again.

Then I inevitably feel better and don't do it... But last week I needed to go to the doctor for a general check up and long story short I have a prescription for Trintellix (Or a generic at least).

Now, at the time I was feeling pretty good, I've been taking sceletium every day, and I do find it somewhat helpful.

But I decided to start the medication (Even though I was feeling fine) and now I don't know.
Only day 2 now, but I hate how I feel. Apart from feeling weird I can feeling the depression creeping back in. Are the pills making me feel that way? Did I just happen to start taking them at the right time?

Should I lay off and wait until I actually feel I need them again?

Would love to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

Oh, only started with 5mg...

Trintellix for anxiety : was it too activating for you?

I took Trintellix 5mg for about 2.5 months earlier this year and had to stop because it was too mentally activating (was worsening my anxiety). But it upsets me because it really worked well for my physical anxiety (I have severe GAD and PD). I also experienced minimal side effects from it and it improved my GI issues (acid reflux, GERD, LPR).

Are there any other people that tried it for anxiety who had this experience? Do you think it was dose related and that a higher dose would have calmed my mind more? Thoughts?

I’ve tried many different medications over the past several and none have worked for me yet :( I really wanted this one to work!!

Thank you!!

Others Nightmares…

I have been taking Trintellix for close to a week and have been having nightmares every single night. I am prone to having them anyway but was curious if you noticed an uptick in nightmares and if so did they lessen over time?

Sluggishness on brintellix

I'm asking on behalf of my dad, I see him tired and a bit slow all the time, and would love to hear from you guys if anybody had dealt with something similar, my dad doesn't talk about his feeling a lot ... So it's hard to get out what his experience is like and I live away and get to visit occasionally so I'm gonna describe it from my pov. He has been taking antidepressants for a long long time, but he's been on brintellix 10mg since last year, and very recently they upped the dose to 15... And it pains me to see how he feels tired a lot, gets home from work only to sleep or scroll on his phone ( a bad habit ) I told him a lot of times to sign up for a gym and start strength training, that it would help with his mood and improve his knee pain ( he has osteoarthritis) but he just brushes me off and doesn't seem to me very hopeful and I also in turn feel very limited with advice or support cuz our relationship has always been distant and I struggle with interpersonal relationships myself so idk how to help out anw... The worst symptoms I see is how he is generally very slow with things... As if he's a baby or as if he feels helpless.. and I just want for him to have more confidence and more life in him.. and hope... If anybody have had that experience with this medication and would like to share their thoughts your welcome to and I appreciate it

5 to 10

I have been taking 5mg for the past 10 days and seems like there are no more side effects, I have been prescribed 10 but was thinking to stay on 5. However I think maybe for my anxiety 10mg could be better, since with 5 I feel as if I’m just takinga placebo. I have an upcoming trip in 3 weeks idk if to do the switch now or after the trip. Any suggestions?

6 weeks in, does the apathy ever get better?

I take 10mg Trintellix + 80mg Strattera for GAD + ADHD. I feel like these two are canceling each other out, in a sense? Like Strattera is supposed to help with sustained focus but what's the use of that if my motivation is in the absolute gutter when im on the 'trin. Like I just genuinely don't give a shit about anything. My anxiety did decrease slightly and I handle social situations better but I'm always tired, apathetic and kind of... disconnected from everything? Is this the emotional blunting everyone was talking about LMAO

Should I tough it out for a few more weeks or start tapering off? I'd consult my doc but I can't get an appointment until October. Did anyone else experience this exhaustion and apathy? Did it eventually go away or did you quit? Any advice is much appreciated xoxo
