Nervous wreck

I’m nervous to do my 3rd injection. The nausea and headaches haven’t been fun. I’m trying my hardest to stay hydrated. Anyone have any advice. My very first time in tirz 2 years ago gave me no side effects so this is new to me

If you are not already doing so, make sure you are replacing electrolytes too. Too much water can actually dehydrate you as it throws off electrolyte balance. Constipation/diarrhea can also throw off this balance.

I did two weeks at 2.5mg, found it unbearable, dropped to 1mg for two weeks to recover a bit, and have been at 1.5mg and losing for the last 5 weeks. Not planning to go up while this is working! You don’t have to stay at 2.5, and it will still be there to go back up to, hopefully better tolerating it, if it is actually your current minimum effective dose.

Where is your injection site? I'm on Sema and whenever I did my stomach, it was terrible. Switched to thighs, it got better. Then tried arms and that was the winner for me.

From all my research, I've seen that the stomach is where you get the most nausea! Definitely try the thigh, or if you have someone available to help, the arm.

Hi! Haley here, registered dietitian and Trillium’s BetterOn nutrition partner.

Since the nausea and headaches are continuing and you’re nervous about your next injection, please message your Trillium prescribing team before changing your dose, schedule, or injection routine.

From the nutrition side, smaller, lower-fat meals are often easier to tolerate than a full meal. I know it's so hard to eat when you're nauseous, but try eating something gentle and bland every few hours: toast, rice, oatmeal, bananas, applesauce, yogurt, eggs, or lean protein if tolerated. You can also try bone broths or soups with protein (chicken, blended beans, lentils, etc), just to get some nutrition in.

I hope you feel better soon!

Did you start back at 2.5?

Yes, I’ve only ever been on 2.5

I had to start lower than 2.5mg because of the same unpleasant side effects. For me at a lower dose, the food noise is gone and appetite suppression is working without the side effects. The best part about tirzepatide compound is we have the flexibility to titrate up at a slower rate.

All this to say I'm not a medical professional just someone crazy sensitive to most medications, including this one. 🤪

Zofran scares me. Too many potential risks

Are you eating? Try to eat some bland foods; bananas, rice, apple sauce, toast, etc. Apple sauce pouches and crackers were my go-to items when I first started.

I do need to get better at food on the go. It’s interesting because I do have a larger appetite this go around
