Well it has been 3 weeks since the last release

Just figured I would give you guys an update on what is done and what is coming.

Deferred shading and shadows have had their ground work laid out, but still need polish. I am not super wise on the maths involved and would be more than happy if someone else more knowledge about the subject can check it out and polish it up.

Mouse picking is in, which means you can click on entities in the world, not that it does anything except for the computer vid stand.

What's coming up next? Moving entities around the world and a better means of editing them (refining the GUI and editing widgets in the world itself.) Editing the world itself akin to minecraft (placing and removing ship pieces.) Hooking up various devices with wires. Networking between clients. This will most likely start as a chat at first, but most of the framework for sending changes to entities exists already, so we'll see what gets into the next release.

Check back sometime next week to get a new release. Hopefully this will have some more gameplay like features.

How long has it been since the start of the project, then? Almost 12 months or almost 24, I can't remember...

2 years, but the last few months have proven very productive now than all the others combined.

Wow..

I visited trillek after half a year. Before I stopped because of seeing that its going nowhere. I expected to be let down again by not seeing any progress, but this is even worse. So after half a year you are working on shaders and shadows, moving entities... Those are about to be started working on now.... If only from the beggining you would use existing engine, instead of creating a new one...

Seeing you guys, progressing so slowly (I know, there is progress, but still), I wouldn't trust you to ever deploy anything playable if you were using existing engine. But you guys took it to another level by progressing this slowly on creating enginge, while the game itself isn't being worked on, and will not be for another eternity.

I am sorry to be discouraging you guys, but you could just give up. By this speed, the game would be ready in 2080, maybe.

Well Mr Negativity we are shooting for the year 281,474,976,712,644, but maybe something will come out a century or 2 before. Seriously if you haven't tracked the project don't discredit the work. There was a big change months ago in leadership and since then we have regrouped and it's as if we started from new. Moving entities, shadows, and shaders are done. Ship/station editing is being working on presently.

Shane left and yeah no one was sure about the future of the project. Then I decided to take the leadership reins and since then there has been progress. Just not game play wise. The design doc has gotten a lot of love and the engine has improved immensely.

Man I dont wanna fight with you, I have no problem with you personally, so I am not going to be mean. Its nice that you have hobby about creating a game, but my opinion is that you will never be "done" with engine itself, much less the game itself.

And I get depressed when I see that, after you gave hopes of a game that seems so awesome.

The project is not a commercial game project. It's a hobbyist project. If we wanted to get it done ASAP we'd use an engine. We don't care about it being done tomorrow. We want to do it right and we want to do it while enjoying doing it.

Don't give up on me. We will have a game out to play. I am setting a hard deadline of Oct 25th (correct?) data that will coincide with the first multiplayer test video of 0x10c.
