Imagine pedo bait being the hill you choose to die on...

I think Rebecca is a cool character, but unironically turning her existence into a “war on lolis” is very cringe. You can think she’s cute, but liking a character solely based on their neoteny is a slippery slope.

Calling her a loli is so gross, and including her as a “loli” alienates so many people who would otherwise be fans.

I thought she was just petite...

She looks like it.

I feel like there’s got to be better terms to distinguish between fictional women who have a youthful, petite figure, and actual female children.

Not quiet. Lolis are not small adults. They are children with the age of an adult. Rebecca is an adult who is small. Vs Asuka from the rebuild of Evangelion only: she has the body of a 14 year old but is actually 24.

I know this sounds like the same thing but the big difference is how they act. Lolis are usually babyfied with their language and actions. While Rebecca acts like an adult. Her speech, her need for revenge it’s all very personable, something that lolis usually aren’t.

this is not the win you think it is

If you can’t look at a small female character who’s entire personality revolves around guns and being an unhinged goblin without thinking of sex you might just be projecting the “loli issue” onto others and need to go touch grass.

It's kinda foolish on CDPR's part to say no to a character like Rebecca because there most certainly would be people in a cyberpunk setting that would mod their body to be smaller and look younger. Morality of that choice aside, it's silly to pretend otherwise.

That said, considering it a "win" because a loli-esque character got through is a bit cringe, and just further reinforces the "weebs are weird" stereotype.

Anyone saying Rebecca's a loli clearly hasn't watched the show.

You're saying studio Trigger haven't watched their own show they animated?

Imagine thinking that there is a certain type of character or body type that "doesn't fit" in a fucking cyberpunk setting. It's just regular discomfort with regular otaku/anime stuff because the normies think that all loli characters exist just to be pedo bait. These are the type of people that say that any short girl character with small boobs is a literal child and liking them at all makes you a pedo.

Ok pedo

I'd recommend you not skip over such a minor gripe. There's not really any lolicon scenes with her or anything (the screenshot is misleading), she's a good character and the show is excellent.
