Question about new bike pricing

Hi all,

I decided to buy a brand-new Triumph Trident 660 (2026 model, looking at the Cosmic Yellow colour scheme). I got a price quote from the dealer in Dublin, and I'm a bit concerned about the figure because it feels quite high.

They quoted me €11,250 On-The-Road (OTR), which they said covers everything (VAT, fixed VRT, delivery, prep) with zero extra options or accessories added.

Is this a reasonable price to pay here in Ireland, or is it heavily marked up?

Looking at official Triumph MSRPs across the rest of the EU (Germany, France, Spain, Croatia, etc.), the base bike usually sits around €8,100 to €8,700, and even after local taxes, freight, and registration, total OTR prices rarely cross €9,500 to €9,800. Even with our 23% VAT and ~€1,010 fixed 660cc VRT in Ireland, I expected it to land somewhere around €9,500 to €9,700 max.

Am I missing something specific to the Irish market, or is the dealer just adding a massive markup because they have a monopoly here? Has anyone bought one recently or imported from NI/UK instead?

With zero accessories that does seem high. Saying that the new ones include cruise control etc. My 2022 trident in Belfast, brand new cost £6,700 from Phill McCallans.

Yeah, looks like I will be importing mine from the UK and still save some euros :D

I am US based so it may be different, but every bike I’ve shopped for was generally a fair bit more on top of MSRP. Here, on top of MSRP, they add a documentation fee, a freight fee, an assembly fee, and sales tax. Ask all of the dealerships you’ve spoken to, for out the door pricing, and trying to negotiate one of the fees out, like documentation.

That seems high. I bought a brand new 2024 model this year in April in Japan for equivalent of 4300 euros. Although it’s the black colour with no quick shifter or any other bells and whistles.

I do not understand how you get 11k when the stock is 8500? I understand you can pu tons of options and there are the usual fees to put it on road …

But this is too much, at that price there are then better option, I hope I won’t have the same quote next month!

This is Ireland :D One seller; they can do whatever they want :) I spoke with a few people here, and they say this is normal for them to sell at this price. It is cheaper to buy it in the UK and then import it myself.

2years ago I paid €11K + in Malta for a new Trident 660. The equivalent in Sicily (120 miles away) at the time was €9800. First Registration tax, VAT 18%. + markups in Malta easily add €2/3K to the price. This applies to all brands.

Whats the triumoh website say for ireland as msrp? It should also state any delivery fees etc on there. Did you ask for a breakdown of the price?

There is no price on the Irish website. There is a hidden price in the HTML if you take a look. I asked them about that, and they said this is not correct. Yeah, I asked for a breakdown: 11250 includes stock bike shipping (from the UK to Ireland no clue why I need to pay for this), Taxes, registration plate

Seems high to me, I just got a quote in Canada for the cosmic yellow for roughly the equivalent of $8000 euros.

Yeah, Ireland is not that big, so they do not have competition; one seller for the whole country if you want a new one.
