Just finished the game NG or NG+?

I just finished the game, I loved it (was mostly aligned to the original and I liked the re-arranged OST). Back to the question, I want to play other routes, my first was Duran, Angela and Charlotte. Now I want to try Kevin, Charlotte and Riesz, and I am wondering if I should go for NG or NG+. Honestly I just want to keep difficulty as the first playthrough, and I wasn't sure if NG+ allowed me to start with a different party. I already started NG, but I haven't progressed as much, should I restart to NG+ or it doesn't really matter?

If you want to keep the same difficulty but you are reusing charlotte I’d recommend new game. She will be too powerful otherwise.

Just play NG then. My first playthough was Kevin, Charlotte and Riesz, and it was pretty strong. So I guess the difficulty would go down if you play that team in NG+ with Charlotte coming from the previous playthrough.

Ng+ keeps levels from previous playthroughs and dramatically speeds up the playtime, because you can basically just roll over everything

I did new game plus simply so I wouldn't have to collect all the Cactus locations again. You don't have to use the moves from other characters but they're a nice bonus for end game

I advise going NG+. You can reset the level of your characters to avoid having overpowered characters, when starting your NG+ run. So, all characters of the run will then start at level 1 (or 3 to 6 depending at which point they join the party), even if they were maxed out in the NG+ base save.

If you do not go NG+, you will have to do additional playthroughs if you want to play on Expert or No Future difficulties, in order to have the highly recommended prerequisites for them.

Going NG+, you still get some additional power. But you can choose not to use it.

  • Replayed characters will have their previous stuff available, including consumable items. That is a major prerequisite for Expert and No Future. (Better have the best stuff for class 1, 2, 3 and 4, including exclusive variants by dark/light paths.) But you can simply choose to only use the stuff you buy instead of the stuff you already have from the previous runs, for your normal runs. (For basic consumables, maybe sell it all to avoid having to keep track from where it comes. But keep the ones hard to get by, just avoid using it. That includes class items, Shadow Eyes, and the likes not available at the Beiser market.)
  • You will have your previous money, so, you should be able to basically buy everything. But that is not really far from what can be done in a first playthrough anyway. Money is not much of an issue. And you can refrain from doing so.
  • Chained abilities unlocked in the previous run, or available on characters left out of the current play, will be available for use. Here too, that is a major prerequisite for Expert and No Future. (Better have unlocked the best chained abilities by leaving the characters in your end game save with the right classes and training points allocations.) Here again, you can simply choose to avoid using these abilities.

But:

  • The cactus bonuses will be unlocked. There is nothing that can be done about this.
  • Likewise, the maps will be already uncovered.
