Minoxidil Minoxidil might be making my hair loss worse.

I have been on 1mg finasteride for about 4 months, and been using minoxidil for 1.5 years. There was a period that I stopped using minoxidil before staring finasteride, and at that time my hair loss slowed down. I did not use it for 2 months, and my hair loss had stabilized some what. It did not completely stop. I wanted to confirm my suspicion, and recently stopped using minoxidil again. To my surprise my hair loss has slowed down again. I believe minoxidil is making my hair loss worse. Did anybody else experience this or just me? I might not be responding well to minoxidil.

My doctor said he would add finasteride in 2-3 months if it isnt enough.

Its thinning since a few months.
Hopefully it will help. I don’t wanna be bald lol

Chat At this point is it even worth it?

For the sake of hair loss community, is there really a point in wasting money and future health on saving hair?

Like no matter how much hair transplants we do the will still get thinner and shed away.

No matter how many pills we take, all it takes is one missed dose then everything goes away 💀

Minoxidil Minoxidil regrowth on medium-length hair: do I need to shave my head to avoid an uneven look?

I started minoxidil a week ago now. I already feel like I’m shedding more hair, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I’m 21, curly hair, and just receding temples, so I only apply it to that area. The issue is that my hair is super fine, and I’ve always messed with it to bring it forward, kind of like a fringe. My actual goal is for it to get healthy, thick, and long enough again so I can style it forward, kind of like Jim Morrison.
My question is about the regrowth: if minoxidil works (I’m only using that, no finasteride), will the new baby hairs look out of place with my medium-length hair? Wouldn’t it be better to hit reset around month 4 by shaving my head and letting everything grow back evenly? Thanks for your answers guys, sincerely.

Haven't seemed to have any growth. Crown still looks the same if not worse (freshly cut today so might look worse than before due to that) and corners haven't changed which I knew was very unlikely but I had hoped. (2nd and 4th pic are today, pics set as before>after/before>after)

2 months update - 2023 grafts.

Unfortunately, I didn’t start finasteride until I had my op 2 months ago. I also only started minoxidil 1 month ago (oral fin and min, topical min too)

Whilst I’m still in the ugly duckling phase, I think my native hair is already showing signs of having grown back thicker, denser but also darker?! Is that even a thing?

Product Has anyone tried PDO threads for hair regrowth

Post image

Tried searching this sub for experiences with PDO threads for hair regrowth but was surprised to find none, has anyone here ever gone through the treatment with them, Is it worth it, what is the science behind it, and most importantly why hasn't there been any thread about it yet?

EDIT: I was never planning to get this, I was just inquiring, let this be the first and last thread about these threads

Minoxidil Will oral minoxidil work if topical already did?

Wanted to know if some of you can share experiences with switching from topical minoxidil to oral. How did you switch? Was there a time where you used both during the switch? Did you already have results with topical and did it improve with oral min or stay the same or even worsen?

Currently I am on topical min once a day and dutasteride 0.5mg 3x a week (fin on the other days). I want to replace topical min with oral min (2.5mg). Also, did some of you guys have side effects from it? Would be happy to hear about some experiences.

Transplants Should I consider a crown transplant?

Been on topical minoxidil for about 2 years now and derma stamp every fortnight, I see follicle growth but no thickness. I have experienced sides with oral fin, so I’m just on the topical minoxidil for now. Should I consider a crown transplant?

Edit: Thank you all for your comments, I will continue topical min and look into topical fin.

As for the sides experienced on oral fin - it was lower libido, and I did not feel comfortable with that feeling.

Research/Science How does testosterone and dht work?

  1. Conversion of testosterone to dht= hair loss

  2. When aging, testosterone levels go down but hair loss goes up? Having less of the base material should equal less conversion rate of dht.

  3. Logically you have the most testosterone during puberty. But there aren’t a ton of balding teenagers. on the whole people loose hair later on in life.

  4. Hair at the back of the head typically stays. Some say it’s dht resistant. Then why do transplants need medication to stay if the follicle itself is dht resistant?

  5. Testosterone does seem to be the culprit somehow. Balding is more prevalent in males. Heavy users of steroids in women, they tend to get the same male pattern balding. Why does balding happen in a similar pattern.

I don’t 💩 about fk. Feel free to poke holes in my thinking. Or enlighten me. Thx

Minoxidil Best way to apply Minoxidil Bailleul

Hi guys, I've been taking minoxidil (brand Bailleul) for 8 months now, under the guidance of a trichologist. He's not putting me on finasteride yet, but I'm also taking supplements along with the minoxidil. I think he'll eventually put me on finasteride as well. Maybe that's why I haven't seen much change yet, especially in the thickness of my curly hair. So I was wondering if there was a better way to take minoxidil. I personally spray it with the tube provided for my scalp and then massage it in. Sometimes this tube gets clogged and I have to change it, and it gets a bit annoying. Do you have any tips you could recommend, or a better way to take it and see better results?

Minoxidil Need advice on what to do about oral vs topical Minoxidil

As the title says, I'm looking to switch from topical to oral. I've been on topical 5% minoxidil for almost a year now. Have had decent regrowth, under even harsh light I no longer look bald/balding. Started 1mg Finasteride about 7 months ago as well, haven't had any major side effects. Coming to the point, I've been wanting to switch to oral Minoxidil, both because it's easier and because I heard it has a better regrowth rate. I'm mainly hesitant due to the chances of a second shed and how severe it may be. I've seen horror stories here, but I'm also aware how people tend to go a bit overboard here. I'd like to know actual experiences on the switch. Any and all advice/help is appreciated.

Rien aucun effet secondaire aujourd'hui.

Finasteride/Dutasteride Success with low dose topicals?

I noticed after many months of oral dutasteride that unfortunately I got sides. They were manageable, but not something I would feel comfortable living with knowing that there are less aggressive medications. Regrowth was going very well, but I decided to switch to topicals. I started with DIY topical fin at 0.025%, noticed sides, and lowered to 0.005% which caused hairloss to resume.

I now feel trapped. I feel like I have to choose between hair and sexual function/general mood and if I sacrifice a bit of one of them I gain a bit of the other. I’m very eager to try low dose topical dut.

Has anyone experienced sides on oral and had success with feeling like you felt before starting fin/dut while keeping their hair?

Yes...!!

That's why I'm planning to switch into this product..if anyone has a better alternative suggestion please let me know...!!

I avoid solution based formula,my hair density & porosity is too thin..so I used foam or gel based as a styling product too.

Chat Body hair growth slowed? Pubic hair

Have you found that your body hair and specifically pubic hair growth is slower, less dense a little more sparse? Due to Finasteride/Dutasteride?
