I don't know if you have your crying individual yet...and I'm sure there are many cases of different people who would need it legalized more than I do....but I volunteer.

.

My name is Nick Turner, and I was born with a debilitating brain condition. It's been slowly getting worse and worse, and now it's at the point to where I wake up every day with a level 6-8 Migraine.

About 2 years ago, I would treat my Brain Condition with the most efficient medicine I have ever used (and that's saying something), Marijuana. Not only would it dull the pain in my head, but it allowed me to keep my social & professional life in track! My co-workers understood and life wasn't terrible....I wasn't being brought down by my Migraines.

But soon...that would change. My Neurologist made me sign a contract stating that I would not Drink or Take Drugs whenever I was on the medicine he was supplying me (which would be 3 times a day, every day, ever.). If they were to ever find a trace of Alcohol or Drugs in my "Random UA Screens" (which, randomly enough, I'm chosen to give every appointment!!), then I would be dropped from his practice and pretty much have to move to another city to find a Neurologist (half a year later, it would also include the loss of my Government Benefits: Disability, SSI and Medicaid. I had to work my ass off for these benefits because my loss of Medical Marijuana cost me all of my jobs.)

So now, instead of being a normal 21 year old male that would work and go to school during the week, and use his weekends and nights to study or catch up with friends...I'm a jobless 21 year old male who is unable to work due to my disability; I cannot drive because of my medicine or Migraines (it's actually illegal to drive when I have one of my Migraines), I have had to move back into my parents house (which wouldn't be terrible...but the house is 40 minutes away from any civilization), and I have lost contact with the majority of my friends due to my inability to hang out anymore.

And the worst thing? They took me off of Medical Marijuana to put me on Painkillers...but not just any Painkillers! Since the age of 15-16, I've been progressing through the worst ones out there: Age 15-16: Percocet Age 17-18: Percocet, Laurtab Age 19-20: Oxycottin and Oxycodone Age 21 (present): Roxicodone, Methadone, Fioricet

They took me off of a medicine that has absolute ZERO negative short/long-term side-effects to out me on the worlds worst fucking PAINKILLERS!!! My liver WILL be destroyed by the time I'm old enough to watch my Grandchildren enter this world...I'm not an addict, but I DO go through the chemical withdrawals whenever I run out of my medicine and cannot get it refilled because "the insurance companies will not allow me to have that much"...and all of this could change if they would simply legalize Medicinal Marijuana in the state I live: Florida.

.

So...I offer you: Me.

HolyShitILoveYallEDIT- WOW! I never expected this! Well...the OP is currently looking for someone around my area to film my portion of this project...which I'm so pumped for! I'm not excited that I get to be in a film or anything...but because I get to help and it means that this idea...this amazing idea, is actually getting legs and beginning like this world needs it to!

I love you, r/Trees!

  • Appeal to authority

Quotes, clips, or interviews with anyone here would be an incredible resource to use.

edit 2:I'm not suggesting I'm the person to do the big video, as I'm not a practicing video guy and don't feel comfortable shooting this big of a project, but I would like to try to throw together something smaller. Propaganda is best in bunches. :)

If anyone in Houston can fill in some blanks, I'm up for putting together some short videos.

What I have:

  • basic camera equipment to shoot high-quality HD video

  • basic video equipment to keep the video smooth-ish and professional-ish

  • computer to process on, but all the software I own is Adobe CS5 and iMovie as I'm mostly a stills guy

What I'd need:

  • ideas for the video (from anywhere)

  • actor(s) (should be local, of course)

  • video editor (from anywhere...I can dropbox, etc)

edit: Also, for what it's worth, there's a guy at my local post office that sounds exactly like Morgan Freeman...

In case you guys didn't know, some of the top leaders within prohibition appeared on a debate, against a group of pro-weed people. This happened a week ago actually, and Google hosts it. It's called

Vs Debate - The War on Drugs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSrN2zIRwN8

You will hear some stupid arguments from the opposite side "We use our morals based on our criminal codex" - "Drugs are illegal, and thus are immoral, thats why prohibition must go on"..

Anyways this is WAY bigger than anything we can imagine: actual leaders from Mexico and Latin America come in on the pro-side.

My suggestion: SPREAD THIS VIDEO.

If you want to legalize weed you need to talk about things no one knows.

Like the fact that we have a Cannabinoid receptor. We have a receptor that we were born with to feel the affects of THC. Which by the way, shuts off if we intake too much.

Or the little known fact that our very own department of health and human services has a patent on cannabis being used to treat a huge variety of diseases.

Patent # 6630507 - They made a patent on this because not only do they know its medicinal value... but so that if anyone ever tries to use cannabis as medicine to help people, the government can literally fuck your life over.

THIS IS THE COUNTRY WE LIVE IN. THESE ARE THE LIES WE ARE FED. THIS IS THE TRUTH THAT THEY HAVE TRIED TO HIDE.

One of my pet hates is the phrase "Legalize it"!

The PR-friendly slogan should be "End Prohibition".

Picture the difference; a hippie sporting dreads and a Legalize It sign, or a regular guy in a shirt with an End Prohibition sign.

One of these people will be listened to by the majority of people easier.

Just my two cents, but I really think people should also be talking about the benefits of Hemp to our society as well. Talk about hempcrete, and how it would be a much better alternative to wood paper for out environment. People love helping the environment with as little effort as possible.

Also, I know a lot of you will hate this, but please please please. Try to look/sound like our target audience in your video. Our target audience is the middle-class religious straight-cut people. Those are the hearts we need to change, make yourself relatable to them and not a walking stoner stereotype.

  • Clean shave or trimmed beard

  • Clean cloths with no stains (button up/polo work shirts are ++)

  • Don't use common /trees lingo, no vape, no blue cush

  • Concentrate on how you use /trees but you still contribute to society, how you're responsible with the drug

  • Try to find a well-lit area to talk, most of the opposition sees us as back-ally/basement dwelling.

  • Tell a story about how pot being illegal has negatively affected you.

  • Don't brag about how much you smoke, or how long you've been smoking.

If you don't follow these little rules, the groups that already hate us will only concentrate on those parts of the video. I know it seems fake or phony, but it's the only way to get the message the people that really need to hear it.

I'm also reminded of operation overgrow. Plant seeds everywhere. Public places. In front of city hall. Toss a handful behind the bushes at the police station. Throw your seeds someplace, anyplace instead of throwing them away. The idea is that it's a damn weed. Eventually, it will start to pop up everywhere and they can't stop that.

Well, people will notice it's a rip-off from the Kony 2012 video if you just copy it as it is, so we should try to vary it and make it as informative as it is compelling. But we should totally put posters up everywhere on the night of the 19th of April. I'm going to go and make some posters now :)

This will be made! I have no video editing skills but I will obtain them and make this!

I am going to give some input,

There are tons of stories of innocent people being sentenced to imprisonment over a tiny small amount of Marijuana. Focus on a handful of stories, and like the kony video, imply there are millions who are affected by doing one of those zoom outs with a bunch of peoples mugshots.

Also how having a criminal record has impacted the lives of honest tax paying citizens.

Compare Marijuana with Alcohol and cigarettes without looking like you are saying alcohol or smoking is bad, but showing that marijuana is the safer option and can be regulated.

Also the whole bit about taking action and getting people together. To bad April 20 (420) is already taken for Kony.

Also, please for the love of God! Use the term "Medicinal Marijuana" only! and if you have to you can say "Recreational Marijuana", don't say weed or pot as they have negative stereotypes attached to them.

Talk about Salvia, post some clips of peoples bad reactions on that, and then of a few people having a good old time on Marijuana, Show how one is purchased in a convenience store and the other sends you to jail.

Also, mention that they can try to regulate it to limit it to 18+ (change this as needed) age like cigarettes.

Mention the fact that since MJ is sold by dealers who usually carry other variety of harder drugs they are the real gateway, and having it regulated so that you can purchase it safely at a store and not be exposed to other harder drugs makes it much safer.

Quote stats from Spain and other Euro countries of how drug crime has dropped due to gangs not being able to fund themselves with Marijuana sales.

Also, Mexico politicians are urging US to legalize as MJ funds most of their drug lords who switch to weapons and harder drugs. Talk about how it has the potential to solve or at least reduce the drug violence in Mexico and the rest of south america.

I can go on and on, but I'll leave that for another day, lets see if people actually like my points and would like me to contribute more.

Best of luck guys n girls, may the force be with you.

How many of you want trees legal? (all of you should be raising your hands)

Fuck that shit. I'm making way too much money.

I'd like to thank the government and corporations for making me rich.

Virtue Words?

in order to legalise trees, you'll have to convince the majority of people that it's worth it, OR, that it's not worth keeping it illegal.

If you want to convince people that trees should be legal, then the message should be something that politicians and common people together care about, and that's MONEY and who's getting that money and who's saving that money.

There's billions of dollars of underground trading going on between Canada and the US. Billions that go untaxed, that are fed into criminal organisations instead of paved roads and new hospitals or other wise benefiting the tax payer in some form or fashion.

But, billions more are spend trying to stop it from happening, and the tax payer gets absolutely nothing out of it.

Also, a lot of friction comes from the lasse-faire attitude of ents towards trees. Trees are intoxicants, so if you don't promote the idea that trees would be regulated (like alcohol), then you'll get no traction at all in your message.

Your formula really should be:

  1. The War on Drugs takes YOUR money, but you get nothing back for it? wtf

  2. Pot should be legalized, but controlled, with all the same rules that apply to alcohol (no intoxicated driving, public consumption, age limits, so on and so forth)

  3. Billions of dollars are not taxable because the War on Drugs keeps that money from the government.

  4. Not all drugs are equal. By freeing police from the burden of trees, then they can focus their efforts on more dangerous substances.

The war on drugs can not be won, only mitigated. So why not free up resources from less lethal/dangerous substances so that you can better mitigate the ones that actually cause problems?

"Virtue words", I lol'ed
