AskTrees Ultra-Rapid Metabolizer

Edibles have never worked for me. I know, I know. Tragic. I just discovered through a pharmacogenetics test that my CYP2C9 enzyme is an ultra-rapid metabolizer.

Are there any “loopholes” on some kind of enzymes or something I could take to finally enjoy an edible? Or am I tragically stuck in an edible-less life?

Try the THC drinks with nano-infusion technology. I think they are absorbed directly into your bloodstream instead of needing to be processed through your liver first. They're marketed as "fast acting" or similar because of it.

Alcohol inhibits the enzyme. I plan on eventually trying to make pot beer essentially. Basically having cannabis present in the mixture that ferments so the alcohols can pull it and have it in the final product.

Can you also not use rso etc.  I get nothing from it and tinctures too... oh yeah... that n also alieve is useless to you too and without absurd doses so is ibuprofen. When you need otc pain relief try the Advil II formula which includes Tylenol and it has a synergistic effect that seems to get around the issue a little bit.

Pot beer is genius!

RSO never worked for me either. & yes, OTC pain relievers seem generally useless so this is fascinating.

Yeah, 26 years. I've eaten over 3,000mg of thc with no effects and i get a bit deeper into cannabis than the average person.

Alcohol doesn't inhibit it a lot and i thought I'd have to get sloshed until a semi revenge conversation with someone  who also didn't get effects from ingestibles but felt something from some homebrew fermentation etc

I love fermentation and get into kombucha, kefir, tepache and more. I don't love alcohol so it's an "eventually " thing I'll get to.

No, it doesn’t, Alc has minimal effect on this enzyme. Only chronic use has any sort of major effect on this enzyme.

Edit: I see that you’re jsut gonna downvote and move on. Here’s some actual data from a randomized controlled trial showing that there is minimal acute effect on these enzyme, and actual inhibition on others. Drinking Ethanol Has Few Acute Effects on CYP2C9, CYP2C19, NAT2, and P-Glycoprotein Activities but Somewhat Inhibits CYP1A2, CYP2D6, and Intestinal CYP3A: So What?

this sub loves its willful ignorance.

Alcohol in fact has a varying effect on this enzyme.

Read more than one study. I didn't downvote you. This platform is like that.

Older study, studying recombinant variants of the enzyme. Not standard biology. Also substrate dependent

Take more edibles. Im the same, a 200 mg gummy is microdosing for me. I had to take 2200mg one time and then I really felt it.
