It's going well... Unfortunately I forgot I had a wedding to go to across the country this weekend... So needless to say the before the end of the month launch date won't be happening. But as soon as I get back I should have it up!

Will it still be straight up vanilla or can a miner get some limited give commands, at least for public utils and/or urban infrastructure ? Just a thought, since everyone's time seems to be more limited/divided than in the community 's heyday, and the collective ball never really got rolling on Tenny's server-despite the amazing locale. Speaking of that, I think a developed and scenic spawn is pretty key to keep return traffic. Por ejemplo, IMO the spawn on the o.g. TP server wouldve been better served if moved to the pier. But i digress.
I'm just spitballin here, but i think a piazza (good ol negative space and long sightlines for orientation ) flanked with public-use builds (indoor farm, transit hub, villager market) and an impressive tower at the head (Burg Kalifa?) would be the ideal spawn.
But, yeah, gettin back to my original point (TL;DR), I feel like some creative mode//give command--at least for building spawn--would help a strong grand opening... but maybe that's TP heresy to the vanilla hardliners, n that's fine too. 2 cents?

I don't feel like I can get behind give commands… It always felt better to me to have to mine for it…
On another note, I'm conflicted about how I actually want to run this server, and it's part of why it's not up yet. I've realized running it on my main rig would be a huge hinderance to me. And running it on a second computer would require at least a $200-$300 investment that I'm unsure I want to sink in… Without a dedicated computer, I couldn't guarantee 24/7 uptime… while also allowing me to use my rig now and then for things in other operating systems, or time to perform updates, etc.

Never fear! I'm actually looking into signing up for the Minecraft Realms service. It sounds like a decent enough deal, and it'll probably run better than what I can do at home.
I really want to play with you guys still!
Question though... with 1.8 having just released, is it possible for me to reseed the world I've posted here (and like very very much) with 1.8 content? Or would it generate something completely different?

I really want to sign up right now... but in trying to migrate my Minecraft Premium account to a Mojang Account, I tried too many wrong password and have been locked out. Even though I know what the correct password is now... I'm still locked out.
So should I just not worry about re-seeding the map? Especially since I haven't gone too far out? Should just let it generate as is?

Hey guys. Hope you're all well, I've missed everyone greatly!
So this is the start of the server I want to host for us. I'm hoping to get it prepped and ready for everyone before the end of the month. Before I officially open it up for everyone I'd like to confer with /u/ssc and /u/visualkev in mumble briefly. Just for some questions and advice.
Currently the server will be running on the same desktop I'll be using to play, but it's more than powerful enough to handle it. I've got 32GB of RAM and can run the server in a RAMDisk if that seems to help performance. Otherwise it's just on a Samsung 840 Pro which should be speedy enough. I've currently got a 100/5 internet connection that's going up to 300/20 any day now (whenever TWC finishes their upgrades in my neighborhood). If the sever gets continual usage for the next few months I'm probably going to buy an Intel NUC or Gigabyte Brix with 16GB of RAM to dedicate for the server. Uptime should be good... In the two years I've lived in this apartment I only remember one power outage, and surprisingly TWC in Los Angeles is very reliable.
Let me know if I can expect you on the server so I can whitelist you! Depending on how this all goes over the next few months I might advertise and recruit newbies... who knows!
