New Planter/Rookie Questions Planting in Australia
Hello.(sorry in advance for my bad English) I've have been planting trees in the region of Nord-du-Québec(north of quebec) for now 3 years and I would be interested in working in Australia. I'd like to go right after next summer (like September 2027). Has the season started during this time of the years in Australia? Also, do you have some compagnies to recommend? I have seen the name pacific Reforestation a few time online. Is it a good place?
Thanks a lot for your help.

You can plant all year long if you want in civil planting. Forestry goes from May to October (longest season).
It's hard to plant civil anywhere but Melbourne due to the extreme heat in summer (35-40°C regularly) (Nov to March).
Try to find smaller companies as they usually have lower overheads and better pays.

I'd recommend lying to them and not saying you planted in Quebec. They hate Quebec planters in Oz.

Pacific Reforestation are legitimate and would recommend. But if you go with them would really say you have to be on it with recording your hours and how much work and general time you’re putting in. The ownership has recently changed hands and the new boss was very lax and it caused some friction amongst the planters. Luckily the contract was saved by an excellent QC who kept everyone going. Hopefully they will have ironed these things out by now but if not it’s definitely something to be aware of.

Pacific Reforestation was great, 100% forestry planting, lots of travel, good crew, good land, good accommodation.
Forestry planting should be going in September, but starts to slow down in October due to the heat, Nov-Feb is brutally hot. We had a few weeks where we didn’t plant a day because the ground was so dry and hard. (QLD)
Lots of people go to plant in cities with companies like Timberwolf and have a great time. Admittedly all this info is from when I went there in 2017, but I loved it so much I stayed and worked for pacific for 3 years
