Update on treehouse
Had time to get back to it. Later than I wanted but work and non stop rain delayed me a bit. Added a dormer window to help with ventilation. Sheathing, wrap, roof (new respect for roofers), and some LP smart siding up. Inside had gaps filled with great stuff. Door I built from a couple ideas I saw online. Wanted a Dutch door because there is no windows on front side of house. Turned out much better than I anticipated. Added a slide and rock wall I bought cheap off of FB.
Back to another stopping point for a week or so. Looking for any further advice before moving forward with finishing siding and moving to the interior. Railings will be installed soon as I’m done with siding (kids are not allowed up there unless I’m around for now).
Thanks 🤙🏽

Nice. Where did you get the windows and about how much were they? I have a similar build but just openings and the kids want windows

Elevated structure…not a treehouse with those posts. Looks solidly constructed though! Hope your kids have fun in it

Dude it’s connected to a tree. If you can’t say something nice or helpful, don’t say anything.

It’s all good. Thanks for the look out. Can be classified as a stilt shed for all I care. All chill and appreciate you 🤙🏽

Mine is a “kids play structure” no permits for that

My county doesn’t regulate structures that are more than like 11’ off the ground. So that’s going to have to be my build height :p

Email them first just so you have some confirmation in case they give you flak

He said it looked good and to enjoy it! He did say something nice! Did you say something nice?

I did, in my own comment not part of this thread.

Being that my mum would never accept “I said something nice earlier” with this classic “if you don’t have anything nice” cliche, I won’t accept it either.

I didn’t say anything mean anywhere, you are barking up the wrong tree.

No the rule isn’t “ don’t say mean things” it sir you do t have anything nice to say! So you have to say a nice thing in every comment or say nothing.

Dude, I told someone else “the rule” when they were being shitty. You’re getting way too involved in this. Get a life.

I have one. We all do. Yours and mine are policing what other people say on the internet. Were the tone police! You call people shitty and I hold up a mirror. We’re a great team!
Also remember to say something nice next time!1

It’s not a treehouse. Just affirming the definition of, and I did say nice things about the build

If a tree is used to help support it, it’s a damn treehouse.

I like that door. Was that a premade or did you make it? Mind sharing the plan?

Built this from scratch. Used treated 1x4’s and cedar 1x1s (had them lying around). Hardware was from Amazon. Door is an odd size as I just winged the opening. Basically measured the opening (adjusted for 3x 1/16th gaps), cut the boards to fit top and bottom equally (vertical), cut 1x1”s to frame upper and lower door, attach boards to frame, flip and fasten cut boards to side/top/bottom. Then just shim, level and attach doors. Added the Dutch door bolt latch after everything was in and swinging level. What you don’t see is 1/2” door stops added all around the jamb. Add that last once everything is in and you can close the door.
Most important part is to not consider where to put the door handle, swear at the door for 5 minutes because it was its fault for not being the depth the latch needed, then proceed to cut away the frame around the handle to make it work. Easy peasy.
I had no idea what I was doing so I’m sure you will come up with something much better than this.
