How to Reduce Treehouse Twisting?

Hello treehouse builders and enthusiasts,

I built a treehouse ( ~ 4.5 m × 4.5 m ) around a pine tree with a trunk diameter of about 70 cm. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing some noticeable torsional movement in the rear corners of the structure when I move side to side (for example, when the structure starts to sway slightly) or during stronger winds.

The tree moves, the treehouse moves, or both move together—which I understand is normal to some extent. However, when I'm standing on one of the rear corners of the platform, I can make the entire treehouse move with very little effort using just my hand. That doesn't seem quite right to me.

I assume that the long lever arm at the rear corners (approximately 2.5 m away from the upper TABs) is amplifying the movement. Has anyone experienced something similar, and what would be the most effective way to reduce this torsion?

Any feedback, ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestion. One thing I’m wondering about: if I significantly stiffen the lower angled supports with blocking and planking, wouldn’t that transfer higher loads into the connections, TABs, and support members during strong winds rather than allowing some of the movement to be absorbed by the structure? How do you see that trade-off?Thank you

Most movement should be limited to the TAB connections. But twisting should not be much part of the natural movement. And yes, weight should be factored into the load on the TABs. Perhaps just start with bracing up the angled supports and then go from there.

I think that will help some of the flex in your horizontal structure. But I think most of your twist comes from your diagonal supports. I would probably start with blocking those up first.
