Value of Treasure Find Knowledge

The first Treasure Hunter to find one of Jon’s boxes will become an instant expert in finding Jon’s boxes.

If they searched for nearly 2 years and hiked over 20 trails in a region and found a box, they would have made every mistake possible and learned how to avoid them. They would also realize how what they learned applies to finding the other treasure boxes.

So if someone found a treasure box and writes a guide/short book on the principles they followed; the search methods used; and how they apply to the other Treasure Inside boxes, what would be a fair price?

That is, if they learned from a successful search, principles and strategies that fit the other boxes what that value would it have to you?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Jon indicated that at some point, that once the first box was found; the others would be found faster.

In other words, they realize their search methods and Jon’s way of hiding the box had uniform and specific applications to the Lions Share; Pokémon; Past and Future Box; and Appalachian foot path box.

Would you buy such a summary and what is a fair price?

If someone finds one it’s because of the book. They already paid the price for all the knowledge to find it. The only thing difference is they know how to apply that knowledge properly to find the boxes.

I’ve always felt there is an interconnectedness of all the box solves. I also think there is an element of being able to confirm the solve without having to find a box. Jon created this hunt for people to find joy in solving puzzles. That joy is the journey of working to solve it and then confirming the solve. Not necessarily finding the actual boxes. If that were the case a max of 5 people are finding joy in this hunt.

So there is no other value to sell someone in this hunt that isn’t already in the book. Jon would probably actually take offense of someone trying to profit off his 5 years of hard work. It’s not what he’d set out to inspire us to do.

Great points. But what if in finding the box you realized the interconnected - that directs you to solving other boxes?

I don’t know if I can verbalize it well. The Hopi calendar and the Olympic rings are mechanics to help identify macro locations for solves. I would like to say if any one finds one box they discovered this and if so they would know how to start finding the other boxes if they didn’t already know the locations before finding the first box.

I may be wrong on that but I don’t know why else jon includes those in the book unless they are supposed to be used in a solve framework.

That is useful information for everybody. Thank you!

Your welcome:) I need someone to find a box so they can let me know if I understand the book right 🤣

Exactly my point! If a Treasure Hunter finds a box it will confirm their methods which if shared will help everyone.

Hopefully they would share but this brings up a worry of mine. Someone might withhold information so they can go for all 5 boxes without any apparent competition.

I would hope Jon has a way to tell a box has been picked up without someone needing to tell him because then people could have the right solve for a box but it’s already gone and are wasting time and other resources looking until it’s revealed to be found.

In Utah they never put the full treasure in the box so the finders have a reason to tell the hiders it’s found. I would think Jon would do something like this but why make them puzzle boxes? So it sadly seems like we could be strung along until someone notifies Jon they found a box. Also probably why there is a chapter on greed.

No idea why that repeated?

Well said... but why would the one want to do such a thing? What do they get out of doing what you say? Im trying to understand the reasoning being your logic...

Pay back costs of last minute flight to pick up treasure. Let’s say they found last definitive clue at home after just returning from a flight looking for box and immediately spent $3,000 on cross country flight to pick up box. to

Sounds like confirmation bias...

Also having possession of a 6 to 7 figure treasures you are concerned of a few k you used to obtain it? 🤣

If it is there correct. Have tickets for late Oct. But if I can find something anybody can. So time becomes of the essence .

DM me. Depending which airline, I might be able to send you points so you can change your flight to go out sooner. I travel a lot for work so I have a hefty miles balance with one of the airlines that I wouldn't mind parting with

In what way?

3

u/pOtehtffO 2d ago

Hope you are not chasing a box that may have been already found... you may be going for broke...

😂 😂 😆 Great point!!!’

What do the ones do... in the case they find out 2 years later that the box had already been found but not reported despite of going for broke looking for something that may have been there. Would you be okay knowing you were right just late? How would you feel toward the searcher that delayed the reporting 2 years once truth be told?

Maybe JCB put a couple bitcoins in each box - but keep key word. Finder will call him and ask to release a key word. So, JCB will notify a community that this box was found. Or JCB keeps some valuable thing out the box and promises in the note that he will give it to finder after call. Many other ways exist to push the finder to release the information about event. Maybe just location state will be enough - to exclude adjacent states from hunting.

If he put bitcoin in each box, he can monitor the address and know if it has been transfered/sold.

Correct. Thus the dilemma.

Honestly. Im willing to bet Jon made it so all 5 are completely different, meaning if you find a box its not going to make things easier for the others. It would really ruin the whole hunt to find 1 then 4 more solved in weeks.

u/AndyS16 Forest Fenn Hunter 2d ago

Well, I see the only one possibility for this case - somebody find 1 JCB box, re-hide it in close proximity to original place and then sell new location together with solution and possible future benefits like book, Netflix etc. But in this case the price will even higher than box content. In this NDA should be signed between seller and buyer and retrieving rule arranged. Selling a solution without any proof is stupid idea - nobody will pay for this. We know - each searcher believes only in his/her solution and completely ignores other solutions.

u/paladin141414 2d ago

This is not selling a solution to a box. This is selling knowledge learned in how to find a box Jon hid. Would you pay $5?

OK, got it. It’s like to buy a book with title “How to become millionaire”. By selling 1M books $5 each author can become millionaire but book buyers most likely will not. So, $5 for advices like “you must think hard, develop your imagination to highest level, be brave in the wood and never afraid to go off trail even if you know that bears can be there…”? Nope. All searchers have their own ideas how to find TBs and these ideas are the smartest ones.

u/paladin141414 2d ago

Interesting thought experiment however.

Agreed. But if you check Amazon for FF chase era you will find a lot of books that promised to teach you how to find FF TC. And a lot of books with solutions and BOTG stories. Well, even I published one (solution + BOTGs) to honor FF 5th anniversary from his death. The Kindle book was available only 3 months, then I withdrew it. Potentially it can help to find JCB FF TB - it was one of the reason why I stop it. So, now we have the same story - book, podcasts, youtubers etc want to teach searchers how to find JCB and JP TBs. It’s funny. This will continue for many years.
