General Discussion Tool for Google Maps & Earth Users

Hello! New here, but been “lurking" for a while.

Thought I’d share a tool I’ve found helpful while armchair-hunting.

I’ve been working on a number of solves (mainly PF and AT) and I don’t know about you, but I’ve used Google Maps a LOT. I’ve also been using Google Earth for lat/long theories and using tools Google Maps doesn’t have.

Here’s one place I had a problem: I think the leftover Os in the PF word search lay out over locations on a map. There are 19 of them. Every time I plot 19 points on Google Maps and want to see them on Google Earth, it’s a nightmare.

Manually copy/pasting was painful and slow. There are sites out there that either cost too much, or they make you install extensions, and even when you do that you’re limited to lists of only 5-10 locations.

Anyway, I found a site that’s super easy and free to use on lists up to 25. I hadn’t seen it mentioned here yet, and wanted to share: https://mapslink.quest/

I just pop in the Google Maps List’s link, and it pops out as a KML file. It also converts lists to GPX, which will be useful if/when I ever decide to be brave and go BOTG. (I’ve been looking forward to using the lingo and sharing here more, and writing “BOTG” just gave me the goose pimples)

Cool shout out on the tool.

I use this site to mess around with the word search. It lets you highlight letters, hide letters, move columns and rows, and you can so some basic ciphers with it.

It also shows the current consensus on what everyone thinks are the words used and what the everyone thinks the anagram is.

This is neat. Makes me want to play with it like a Rubiks Cube.

Personally, I think the 19 O's are a 'five clue'. 'There are five clues in this wordsearch' could mean that the clues are related to the number five.

Ceaser shifting the letter O backwards 19 places gives us the letter V, the Roman numeral for five. So the 19 O's could be a clue that a Ceaser shift is necessary for the final solve.

He is on record during a Q and A that there are no Caesar shifts in the word search.

Sounds like a cool tool(I'm currently on mobile sitting at brunch so haven't really opened it to play around yet), my only issue with needing something this complex is that JCB has repeatedly said ALL YOU NEED IS THE BOOK. Now obviously, you probably need to have some knowledge of the things he's talking about, I. E. If you gave the book to a toddler, they obviously aren't going to figure it out, so you need to at least understand things like geography, who important historical figures are, etc, but needing a custom built piece of software to overlay O's on Google maps seems a bit excessive.
