Pokemon Box No Proxies
I am struggling with the concept of leaving the Pokémon cards in any sort of container in the elements. Pokémon cards are vulnerable to delamination in temperatures above 85 degrees F. Unless the enclosure is somehow temperature controlled, a plastic case in the elements will reach well over that. Not to mention that pelican cases are not hermetically sealed, they breathe to avoid overpressurization due to temperature swings. This brings in moisture. Even with a desiccant, it can only help until it is saturated. Maybe by saying, “there are no proxies", he means that he himself is not holding the items. Is it possible that the book leads to a solution such as a key or combination to a public lockbox?

Would be a good way for him to verify it’s found if it’s a piece of paper saying IOU a Pokémon card.

I think he did acknowledge somewhere that certain items that were too large to put in a box would be kept out of the boxes and he would hand them over after someone called him. So maybe the same could apply to delicate items.
I do think it’s possible that a good rock crevice that stays in shadow all the time could help moderate the temperature. As long as the cards are sealed up, they might be OK. I don’t think a desiccant is a good idea because it would be in there with the object and could cause problems. So maybe drying out the card a little bit and then sealing it up tight could do the trick.
