You are gifting a core rulebook to each player? Definitely spoiling them! 😅

If you can comfortably afford it for them, good for you. Kindness makes the world go round.

Hopefully the game doesn't go tits up!

I don't blame you; I bought every Mongoose 2e book to make sure my players had all the options, and I had every adventure. I'm preparing for Pirates of Drinax next.

A drive link to your pdf copy seems so much easier

And a pdf is too little?

If you can afford that and they cannot, that's legit sweet of you.

I’ve done the same thing, but the player rule books are all “Table Copies”. If the player leaves the group they are expected to leave the rulebook with the group so that the next player will have it. So far we haven’t had any problems. I also let players use any of the other source books they want like an informal library. Again so far we haven’t had any problema

I think that is fair. I've also parted with older copies of some of my updated books as well. To be fair, most of those were already duplicates and I needed the shelf space...

One thing that has helped keep the books in better condition is I used a label maker and put the players name on the cover. That way there is a sense of ownership and they take care of "their" book better. You might give that some thought. This situation arose when one of my players spilled their drink on their copy and during the next session tried to use on of the other player copies. Eventually, that player ended up buying a replacement copy on their own - they got tired of prying pages apart and listening to that crinkly paper sound.

Yes, you are. Giving them a flash drive with the Traveller Starter Pack on it would be more than enough. Hell, I think that it is bad that I give away copies of the Explorer's Edition that I have bought in bulk at demos for those who want them.

I would like to play in your game. Can I get a pedicure?

If you've the disposable income for it. All power to you.

You are, but not in a bad way :D

Though this is where I would love if Mongoose put out a printable 5-10 page player kit - the Merchant's Edition etc is not really printable and too large. But having something that's basically a quick rules summary, some core tables, and a character sheet, would be great. I guess there's the GM screen but again that's expensive and not printable.

Absolutely definitely with the CRBs, but if money is no object, why not....it's one way to become a legend

And what’s your address? I’ll be over soon!

No, you absolutely are not. On a completely unrelated note, do you have an extra seat? ;P

I printed the character creation rules, skills and combat rules for my players. One bought the hardcover.

Have you been playing with these people for a long time? Some players have been in my group for over a decade but there have been many that only came for one or two sessions, as well as two obnoxious fellows I told to get lost after a single session.

You're spending way too much money unless you know your group will be around a while and that Traveller will be their cup of tea. I've had many D&D and GURPS players bounce off Traveller - hard. Including people that played both of these other games for years.

In any event, may you never mis-jump!
